the PROBLEM with islam

Islamic religious mentality is stuck in the 8th century. There is an intolerance towards anyone who does not think or agree with the islamic orthodox dogma.

In Pakistan, under the islamic blasphimy laws, anyone who disrespects (they judge) islam, the prophet, the koran, can be punished by penalty of death.

I wonder if an islamic version of Martin Luther and an islamic reformation would bring these people from the darkness of the 8th century and into the light.

You have shown your intolerance.

 

Obviously, you don't know anything about islamic history.

Islamic culture, religion, economy, and yes law, is based completly off of the life of the Prophet Muhammed and how he acted. This have been constant in Arabia for the last 15 hundred years. I really don't think they could start "implementing" new laws.

And you place sincere practice and belief in God in the same catagory as rape, murder and peadophillia.

Do not judge a scripture that you have not read and has been interpretted and reinterpreted so many times before anything to with it reaches you. Do not judge a man who, when he wakes finds a cat sleeping on his cape and cuts that bit off as not to disturb the animal.

Implementing new laws is not the issue. If there is no room for reformation of thought, unfortunately, Islam will remain the disrespected, discredited and irrelevant religion it has become - much like Yassir Arafat in his final years.

It makes sense when you say that you support non violent jews , christians and "towel heads" , but I don't understand why you name jews as jews, christians as christians and then -- other groups as "towel heads" . If you want to prove a point, I suggest that you do it appropriately without making it an ego trip.

 

First of all, like Sebbi said, the scripture has been interpreted, translated and reinterpreted so many tiimes that 90% of its original intent has long been left behind.

Second thing is that the laws based on the way the prophet lived is fine, but the prophet lived according to the situation and the times he lived in. It is very possible, I would say likely, that he would have acted in a different way in today's world. The laws should be based and interpreted not according to WHAT the prophet did, but according to WHY he did it. To understand the wisdom brhind the actions of the teacher is the true success of the disciple.

 

Actually, The Koran is thought to be the most accurate of the holy books, becuase the language it was written in, arabic, is still used today.

If one commits the act of sodomy with a cow, a ewe, or a camel, their urine and their excrement become impure and even their milk may no longer be consumed. The animal must then be killed as quickly as possible and burned.

This post has both fabrications in it aswell as misunderstandings which I will -Inshallah- explain later but ofcourse this was not your intention as you "only" were interested in knowing truth, right? (Then you shall be given that which you seek) but if trouble was what you was seeking then my post won't go through your ears but it will be rejected without you even reading it first.

You need not argue with me, merely, deny that the quote regarding the Prophet's betrothel to a 4-5-year-old girl and his marriage to her when she was but nine is not true. I understand it is from Koranic sources.

While you're at it, you may as well bring whatever evidence you may have to disprove Khomeini's utterances. Hopefully, you will include links to your back up your "apologetics" and to assist us in our deliberations.

Documentary evidence is very hard to deny, especially, when written by those of the Islamic persuasion.
