Yeah, it was a weird thing growing up Roman Catholic. When I grew up at least, it was a mystical, magical type of religion. There were rituals and incantations that simply could never fail. If you visit a church for the first time, make a wish, cause it'll always come true. Did you know that? And St. Anthony is the patron saint of miracles, did you know that.

Anyway I don't believe most of that stuff anymore. Just sounds like old superstition to me. And Mary is just a reincarnation of the Greek Artemis, did you know that?

Anyway, if you're interested, what follows is the prayer that can't possibly fail. You only have to be a Catholic to receive the sacraments. And each one of these RC practices that can't fail, always carry the warning in the fine print you can't use it for something like Bingo night or to score with a hot woman. Here:

    Prayer of St. Simon Stock

Known as the FLOS CARMELI, the following prayer has for seven centuries been called a prayer to the Blessed Mother which has never been known to fail in obtaining her powerful help.

Beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, holy and singular, who brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining a pure virgin, assist me in this necessity! O Star of the Sea, help and protect me! Show me that thou art my Mother!

    O Mary, Conceived without sin,

Pray for us who have recourse to thee!

Mother and Ornament of Carmel, pray for us!

Virgin, Flower of Carmel, pray for us!

Patroness of all who wear the Scapular, pray for us!

Hope of all who die wearing the Scapular, pray for us!

St. Joseph, Friend of the Sacred Heart, Pray for us!

St. Joseph, Chaste Spouse of Mary, Pray for us!

St. Joseph, Our Patron, Pray for us!

O sweet Heart of Mary, Be our Salvation!

    Amen.

I do still draw some strength from my old or former beliefs. But I think that there's some benefit to being brought up with a firm moral compass, even if I don't believe that stuff anymore.

the only thing i've never known to fail is the unknown being unknown. it is possible to be friends with it without telling each other what to pretend about it.
nothing wrong with the above particularly, other then the demand of a one size fits all perspective to work the same for everyone.
whatever the meta-verse, the physical universe is not about identity.

for the comfort this brings to many, it is a fine and wonderful thing. and we all need that comfort from time to time.
the problem with expectation remains. disappointments when people discover they live in a universe that does not always live up or down to them,
are what ultimately lead some people to kill themselves. and the only for certain way such disappointments can be avoided, is to avoid expectations.

gods may exist. they may have wonderful good intentions. but can even they be as reliable as they might wish to? what is not known is not known.
what i have witnessed and experienced in life, is that whatever should or should not, whatever could or could not, whatever does is whatever does.

nothing i have experienced has demonstrated the ability to prevent unexpected experiences to take place. whether these be fortunate, or however extremely otherwise.
comfort, in the face of them, i don't mean to belittle nor argue against. but i just feel, as i have seen and experienced,
that expectations are dangerous, and need to be taken with a bit of caution.

It sure is Catholic! Cult of Mary, all the way! What evidence do you have that it works? Personally, I find it superstitious as hell to think that particular incantations will get us anywhere.
