This is an issue in both Canada and the U.S. I could make a poll on which country will get rid of the penny first...but that would just be pointless. Of course the U.S. should have gotten rid of the 1$ Bill ( Which no other country has, NOBODY! ) The penny is acceptably useless, in both Canada and the U.S. it costs more to make a penny than it's worth, in the U.S. is costs 2.1 and in Canada it costs 2.8 cents to make one cent. How much longer will it last? I want it to die SO MUCH! I have like 5 fucking jars full of motherfucking pennies, they're also full of nickles, which are also pretty much worthless.
hmm, thats another reason america is in debt. fuckin ay i hate america...even though i live here. shits still weak. good poll though
The United States money isnt even backed by gold or silver, its pretty much all fake anyway. If it actually meant something, I think pennies are pretty cool, stick em in your pocket, kick a bean bag, all in a good day.
I like pennies, they make great mosaic pieces. I remember putting all my pennies in a piggy bank when I was a kid until I had enough money to buy the latest toy. I don't think they should stop making them, though it would end the 99 cents bullshit.
now that i think of it, they should get rid of all change. wait...what the fuck am i thinking? they should get rid of ALL the fucking currency. oneness is so fucking right, its all pretty much fake, we might as go back to our ancestors and use fucking rocks and coffee beans as currency.
:bigcry: leave the Penny alone,,you dont even know her, just leave her alone please, shes a coin like all other coins :hystericaplease, please, please leave Penny alone..... after all shes been through , she lost her aunt and went though a divorce,,an her husband turned out to be a asshole, and all you readers out there are making DOllARS off her.... Just Leave Penny alone :bigcry:
you people's hatred of the penny makes me most of my money (I always save and turn in change) fuck off =)
lol.....actually bigger change is the natural evolutionairy process, the U.S. paper dollar costs more to make than its worth as well. Here in Canada the $5 Bill is the next one to die, it's already been discussed, maybe 5 years from now, I have a feeling the penny will be gone by the end of next year here in Canada. U.S. economy is based on sometimes supporting manufacturers of worthless crap because if it doesn't many people will lose their jobs. It's actually very sad when you think about it because in most European countries the economy tries to evolve and create more jobs for the future whereas in the U.S. there's still a lotta old age jobs that really don't need to exist it's just a drain on the economy. Course nobody wants to be like France, but still. Getting rid of the penny and then the dime, now there's a future I can look forward to, everything gets counted by tens!
Who actually uses em though?? I mean you can also get a $2 Bill in the U.S. Scotland is part of the U.K. still so the majority $1 currency is still the dollar pound.
And if the US economy fails, so too will the economies of the world like dominos. Sure it's all built on a house of cards, but Gold and Silver are so volatile these days that betting on them is pure risk. 30 years ago silver was supposed to dramatically increase in value because of industrial use. Other events squelched that from happening and when the silver hoarders started dumping their stashes of old coins and ingots, the price dropped even more. Personally I don't keep pennies. When they are given to me as change I place them in a stack on the nearest horizontal surface I find so they can bring joy to someone else's life. We should pull back to .10 of a dollar, .01 was old fashioned in the 70s! We could make buttons out of them! CF
They're fairly well used in scotland, but in the rest of the UK, quite a lot of shops don't even recognise them hehe. I suspect they'll be fased out when the pound starts heading the same way as the dollar.
You cant get rid of the penny in any country, who is going to remark all the prices to end in 5s and 0s.. Nobodies going to do that. Unless there is mad inflation, like in Zimbabwe they use a 50 million dollar note just to buy 3 loaves of bread, its about the same as 1 Us dollar.
This was the ending topic of the Colbert Report last night. I would like to keep them, pennies still make dollars!
the penny is very important [mainly because of change from the cash register] and should not be executed.
