The Original Declaration of Independence.

    There was a first draft of the Declaration of Independence. It's interesting, because there are some words and phrases Jefferson was forced to take out. What follows are some excerpts from it:

    "...that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with inherent and inalienable rights..."

    "...he has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating it's most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating and carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere..."

    "...this piratical warfare, the opprobrium of INFIDEL powers..."

    "...nor have we been wanting in attention to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend a jurisdiction over these our States..."

    All the above tracts were either omitted or changed.
