this is a question for all you fans of this particular show

ive gone through the english version already, and have now started watching the american version. to my surprise, ive found that this version is better. Though, I could be a bit biased, as I am a big fan of steve carrell. I also think that the guy(cant remember his names) whos the assitant regional manager (assitant TO THE regional manager:p) is much better in the american. I found that the english version has a subtle wit to it, while the american version is laugh out loud funny.

well, which do you like better, n why?

Blimey, without doubt the original UK version is better.
Ricky Gervais made it, well thats my opinion, anyway
    and I've seen both.

i'm all for the british one. It's the subtle, british humour that makes it so fantastic, that makes it stand out from every other sitcom. I'm talking about things like having the camera linger just a little too long on an awkward moment, or having Keith deliever a totally deadpan, totally dirty line and then bite lasciviously into a scotch egg. It's just gold, without having to be overstated.

It makes me cringe and cry with laughter at the same time, all without going for the obvious joke, it's very close to perfect television comedy - from what i've seen of the US version (admittedly only what's on the web) - there's no competition. Go the original UK one.

I haven't seen the U.S version, but the original would be hard to beat. I think the absence of studio laughter adds to the overall feel of the show, which is unique. So is the U.S version less witty? Is it shown in England at all?

i enjoyed both versions, but the british one is definately superior, i mean, you can't beat ricky gervais. he cracks me up, like froozenmoonbeam said, he has that unique ability to make you cringe whilst laughing. i can't not watch him lol

I haven't seen the british version, and in fact didn't know there was one until I read this thread.

The American version is so good that I can't believe it's on network TV -- They NEVER have anything this great.

And it's not JUST funny -- it's deep as well.
