Sometimes I get self-conscious about my music as it just sounds overly hippy-ish haha, I don't want my housemates to think I'm putting it on.. I just genuinely like it! I'm on The Beatles atm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VadngOGKlP0"]The Beatles - Eight Days A Week - YouTube I also listen to a lot of Santana and psytrance, and the Monkees and stuff. I'm always learning about new stuff though How about you?
I listen to folk music. I play folk music. I listen to the stereotypes sometimes. but folk music is where the hippies really found themselves. I think so anyways
If they feel that tell them to sod off...I personally love th grateful dead , beatles, canned heat, the rocket boys so keep enjoying your music and being yourself we love u
It all depends on the perspective but in the last few years I got massively into roots reggae which often has typical hippie-ish themes. 2 examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTvuUlgR3ss"]Barry Brown & Ranking Toyan - Peace + Love 12" 1981 - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUGGqnXNsuQ"]cultural roots - every man has a right - YouTube But I've also been in love with spacy psych rock since my late teens. Never got into the Beatles myself. Hippie blasphemy I know... My love with most 'hippie music' have in almost all cases started with a musical interest though, not the lyrical aspect (which I generally come to like a bit later on).
aw thank you! Back at you The most hippy-ish track I like is probably All You Need is Love... I think a lot of Beatles is v hippyish though. I like Grateful Dead too and lost of Woodstock stuff including Soul Sacrifice by Santana
I like stuff like Country Joe too but if you're in it for the music I can't imagine why people seem to dig his woodstock performance so much. His albums (especially Electric music) are so much better sounding! I also have been a massive Hendrix fan since I was about 15 but can't really be bothered with his woodstock stuff so much anymore. But yeah that's probably because others are reminded of the subculture etc. and I primarily am interested in the quality of the tunes.
I guess on some level I do like the really hippy-ish tunes... I feel they naturally "resonate" with me, and it's nice to kind of spread the hippy joy ^_^
For What It´s Worth - Buffalo Springfield not songs that I listen to but imediatly come to mind. Happy Together - Turtles All You Need Is Love- Beatles Eve Of Destruction - Barry McGuire If You´re Going To San Fransisco - Scott McKenzie Turn Turn Turn - Byrds

You're killing me with the Beatles. haha. We've discussed my feelings on that. I can't do hippy music. I'm too high energy for it. I need crazy, fast, loud and mosh pits. As much as you loooove this saying....we have to agree to disagree. haha.
Well... some hippy music is high energy! Like these! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9csgJkEG86s"]Psy Trance. 1200 Micrograms - Acid for Nothing - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxhTbxMSvT0"]Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane - YouTube They are newer though, admittedly.

I really really tried to listen to ^those. I couldn't make it a whole minute into either one of them. It's just not something I understand. I feel like I'm at a rave and there should be acid and glow sticks to fully appreciate whatever that is. I just can't do it. That's not really the "high energy" I'm talking about.

lol ah yes, you're one of those "punk" people! hehe ^_^ I mean, I like punk too as we've covered before.. I do like Flogging Molly! As for more hardcore or kind of... heavy or harsh-sounding punk... in small amounts I do like it. Some Sex Pistols songs are kinda cool. On the whole though I like the brighter stuff like LTJ. I don't think I've been to many heavier punk gigs. It's just a bit... you know, it's kinda crazy and messy and dischordant a lot of the time... like back with Sex Pistols and the crazy noise and guitar smashing! I do like energy and stuff, but there just isn't enough MUSIC there for me! I have the same problem with a lot of metal genres.
