What does the moon mean to you? What is the significance to you of the full moon, the new moon, the waxing of the moon and the waning of the moon? Do you have any special beliefs, traditions or rituals regarding the moon?
For me the full moon is the culmination of creative energy. The new moon is when I try to send out my intentions to the Universe then as the moon gets fuller these intentions grow like a seedling maturing at the full moon. I'm still trying to figure out the waning of the moon (as it gets smaller.) I think it may be a period of reaping, like the fall; reaping what was sowed (the intentions) at the new moon and what came to maturity at the full moon, until the new moon comes around again and its time to sow. Anyone else?
I love doing moon salutations during a full moon, but some people warn against full-moon-yoga. I'm noticing more and more lately that I'm not doing rituals because of what I know the moon is doing, but rather... I know what the moon is doing based on which ritual I am being drawn to.
drawing down the moon is one of my fav rituals, I laugh and cry and feel great for the rest of the month, I look forward to it .
I have dreams about moons, and I like to walk outside on a clear night during a full moon and stare at it.
i doesn't "mean". it is a chunk of several, but not many, kinds of rock, on which no organic processes have ever taken place of their own accord. it has been visited a small number of times by people from our own world, and that only in the past few decades, and possibly by people from one or two other solar systems, just as briefly. there's not much else to be said about it. its gravity affects our worlds tides. but its just basically a chunk of rock, its minerals may be useful to someone if they were already out there, but not of practical to us, at the bottom of our own earth's gravity well, until we have a MUCH cheaper way of climbing in and out of it, then we currently do. its a pretty light in the night sky, that has its own patterns. i think that pretty much exhausts what there is to say about it itself. as for what people have chosen to make of it as a symbol, well anyone can make anything of anything.
