I recently purchased a melodica on ebay. i was wondering if anyone has had any experience playing one of these bad boys. I havent been able to find any books on the internet about learning to play one. What instrument is it most like? thanks

i have only played them acouple times, but basically i would say its a mixture between a flute and a piano. you blow on it to create the sound and how loud/soft you wish to make it, and you can change the pitch with the piano keys.

You would want a book on piano. As far as I know, the blowing only makes the notes louder or softer--I don't believe it affects pitch. I've never actually played one, though, so I'm not totally sure.
