Trump said a transparent solar wall is needed.

The cost of theft and vandalism of the solar cells which would be on the Mexican side is an issue. Trump could force Mexico to pay for those costs in addition to the wall itself.

Trump could build a second wall to protect the solar wall and make Mexico pay for that too..

Trump could have blood tests and a spinal tap to determine if he has neurosyphylis and have Mexico pay for it.

I suspect what will happen is that congress will approve the border wall in order to get DACA extended. Parts of the wall, the easy parts, will be built willy-nilly across the border at a huge expense to the taxpayers. Then the next administration and a new congress will axe the project. This kinda shit has happened before. Anyone remember the Supercollider? It was cancelled by congress after being half built and costing billions. The biggest difference is that the Supercollider would have worked. The wall is stupid.

Time for Trump to start a new company and demonstrate his business expertise to the whole world.
How about selling drones to the Mexicans.? Even he could not make that one fail.

 

It's not financially possible. It's not possible to police that much land either without a huge military effort. As much as that might delight some people the whole idea of a Mexican being shot it's not happening. The same people who think big goverment is a waste and there should be no tax expect a HUGE goverment project that costs billions. It would be comical if not so sad.

No matter how high the wall is the drugs and people will come in tunnels.

 

There’s really no reason why Mexico should have such an abismal standard of living for their people, that they want to illegally immigrate. They’ve got access to two major oceans, they’re rich in mineral and natural resources, they’ve got a good tourist industry with a lot of potential for growth. They could and should have a GDP bigger than that of South Korea. Main problem is that their government sucks and many of their politicians have ties to the cartels. Fixing those issues might be easier than building a wall.

A basic understanding of economics will tell you the Mexican border is too long. Sorry you don't like brown people but nothing you can do. For example how will you get construction equipment to those places? You can not. Where are the roads?

 

I agree with this concept. Not sure it would be easier necessarily, but I like where you're going.

We vilify Mexican immigrants when the real issue is that their country just sucks--at least in comparison with the USA. I mean, if I'm a Mexican and the cartels are running my town, I'd be sprinting to the US too.

The other problem that no one likes to talk about is with American employers. Again, we vilify Mexican immigrants, but they're only here because American business owners are willing to give them jobs in the first place.

 

Nothing on this earth lasts forever, nothing will stand the test of time. Yeah y'all never say never, but it's only a matter of time before every made wall will crumble and every idol falls. One day even mans best laid plans will lay twisted and covered in rust. We'll do all that we can but it'll slip through our hands and it's ashes to ashes and dust to dust.

 

Damn good thing Mexicans don't know how ladders or shovels work.

 

Simple economic understanding. The border is thousands of miles long with most of it not accessible by any road contraction equipment would use. You really think a 10 ton crane can go where a border patrol Jeep can? Even if you could build it who will maintain it? The upkeep alone will be tens of millions a year if not hundreds. The salary of people you expect to police the wall where does that come from? No one works for free. The construction billions over a many years perhaps even a few decades. Funny thing is that Trump does not have an actual answer for all this either because there is not one. He can rely on his voter's hatred for Mexicans and the left to blind them to this fact.

It also risks damage to the environment which long term could affect farmers in places like Texas therefore harming Americans.

He also ignores that immigration has been down in recent years. Our recession means that there is no reason to come here seeking work. Since we have come out of that more people wish to come. But something like a wall could easily bankrupt America again. We are not that far off from a second recession espeicly with his tax policies. Kind of silly to build a wall when no one comes.

His supporters also say "Israel has a wall". Yes but it's much smaller and not the same kind of project. I would ask you what makes you think there can be wall besides Trump told you there will be one? Because he also told you Mexico will pay and now he says they will not. It's moving the goal posts on an task that is just a distraction. The cult devotion is deep. I find that supports of a wall have little to prove it besides that the "outsider" Trump will make it happen.

 

In truth Trump has probably always known there won’t be a wall. He knows construction of it was evaluated by previous presidents and the Army Corp of Engineers and deemed untenable for the reasons above. It’s always been a lie made to rule up a racist base. His job has always been to make it seem like he tried

Where does racism enter into the issue of a border wall? Americans don't want hoards of illegal Swedes either. Race seems to be a catch-all for so many things these days that it has lost its impact. Calling people racists used to be an effective way to shame them, but it does the opposite when you call someone a racist who isn't a racist.

Unless, of course, there's a particular race who "deserves" to be called this until the end of time.

Nope, what you are describing is fraud that people of ANY race can and do accomplish. Or have we changed the very definition of racism? I wonder what Marx would think of this.

 

Trump said that if he ever ran for POTUS, he'd run as a republican because they are the only ones stupid enough to vote for him HE WAS CORRECT! I think he's doing everything he can to make sure the repubs are thrown out of power for another forty years, like when the cons caused the 1929 stock market crash.
