I've been reading up on the law of attraction and applying it into my own life lately. Basically, your thoughts create your reality. Like attracts like. Everyone and everything has an energy or vibration. So your thoughts and feelings supposedly give out some sort of vibrational frequency that matches up with another vibration bringing it into your life. Kind of sounds like bullshit to me, but i do believe that your thoughts are very powerful, to you at least. Subconsiously and consiously. Like when youre walking across a wooden board 20 ft up in the air, you would have trouble walking and ultimately fall due to your fear of heights and your thought of falling. But if you were to walk across a wooden board just some inches off the ground, you'd have no trouble at all. See what i mean? i dont know if thats a good enough analogy. But i'm a firm believer in that if you could just 'control' your mind, your thoughts, you could do whatever you want. And another thing. The law of attration states that you need to believe and allow some higher power to bring what you desire to you. And that power could be anything from god to the universe to your own subconsious mind. Could they all just be the same thing?? Whether it's true or not, it seems to be working for me. It could just be the fact that im forcing myself to believe that im happier therefore making me happy... but isnt that what the law of attration states anyways? _______________
You will also attract what you fear, because fear creates barriers. Barriers are MADE for smashing because they are self created. It is the same barrier that keeps you from "God". x
man, there's no doubt in my mind that the law of attraction works. but some people are so into it, so into positivity and "the secret", that they become REALLY difficult to be around, really obnoxious, almost paranoid. and it's like... is this really what you're trying to attract? if you take it too far it goes kinda counterproductive. i think it's awesome to apply it to a few things you're trying to achieve, and to get in tune with how it works, because it does affect every aspect of your life and when you get in tune with it's rhythm you can see it very clearly. but i also think, even if all God is, is the subconscious and superconscious summation of all of our individual selves, it knows what it's doing a lot more than i do. and when you're too direct about it, when you obsess over how *cool* it is that you've *figured it out*, ...it's just silly. because every person you meet you're like "we've been brought together to do this and this and this because i wanted this and you created that and blahblahsynchronisticblah" and three months later you look back at how everything unfolded and you didn't have a clue at the moment what was REALLY going on. like, the guy you thought you were supposed to travel to peru with has now gotten engaged to your gay cousin or something. god knows what's up. all i want to do to *mess* with that process is to get in tune with the flow and set intentions and have faith that the web is spinning itself.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Magical%20thinking how does the law of attraction explain magnetisim? like repels like in that sense. and what happens when different people define 'alike' differently. (for instance the catholic church considers a beaver to be a fish, while biologists define it as a mamal). it's just pattern recognition....
birds of a feather flock together. thats nature. but often there is strong attraction between opposites too - as in man and woman for example.
I am a firm believer in the law of attraction, and the power of the mind. In fact I am living proof. I have been in several situtions where I have nearly died, or should have died, and I truly believe that it is the power of my mind that kept me alive. I dont have time to get in to the story right now as I am getting ready for work but I will post later and fill in the blanks.
I see All That Is, Omnipresence, Creation whatever you want to call the energy sea we live in - I see it like a pool of energy that we zap with a frequency sending out ripples and those ripples come back to their source. Everyone is making ripples and they all interact and create the tapestry of life. It's not possible to get back something you don't put out but it can be really deep and not seen unless you go into the meditative state and become one with it.
so is meditation the key to this 'laws of attraction'? and someone mentioned that this knowledge is a secret- I dont see why? when I have applied myself, its really worked- but its scary too. makes me feel that if i'm recieving, how am I returning that energy to the universe? There is a balance to keep
there's a book/movie called The Secret and it's basically about the law of attraction, positive thoughts, beliefs, visualization, blah blah blah. i haven't read it or seen the movie but i know tons of people who are way into it.
aha i see I actually may have seen it advertised but did'nt realize its importance. Anyhow for the record I dont think it's a big secret-there are bigger secrets out there. This knowledge of the power of the mind is widely practised by many and can be found in many spiritual teachings. From personal experience people can use it for the wrong reasons.
I don't believe in the law of attraction and I think The Secret is a bunch of bullshit with pseudo religious qualities and religion is superstition. But I do believe in mind over matter. Like I not feel pain if i put my mind to it, or lift something that is unbelievably heavy.
