I would so fail if I had to be one of those monks that had to be silent all the time.

 

Trying to get down to normal weight and the cooler weather says "stay under the blankets" and the cooler beer says "damn i taste good....drink me motherfucker."

 

I hear that it's easier to lose in the Winter because your body burns more calories to stay warm. Take the blanket off.

 

Does anyone know how to check with Heat? She's been absent for several days.

 

We haven't really had any snow down here yet. I think it snowed one morning and it was gone by noon. Quite a difference from last year.

 

oh yay. a disconnection notice for the water sewer trash bill. $135 owed.
plus the fucking dogs got into the trash, again. theres diaper all over my kitchen.
and i need to do dishes, and i need to iron my wrap as soon as it reaches about half-dry.

I agree... Yesterday too.

 

only good thing on my list for today is my large aluminum sling rings are out for delivery. that should make things easier. other than that everything falls to me. the dishes, the laundry, the holiday prep. i need to clean out the fridge. i need to move shelves and stuff that are in the way. maybe i will get lucky and be able to work on a project later, since i have nothing for the baby for xmas. not that he will notice. we have no ornaments for this year, cant afford them, going to have to make those too. plus im getting sick. knew it was coming, ive been trying to get everyone else feeling better, from the stomach thing to the congestion thing, and now i have a sore throat. but of course, being mom, theres no rest. theres no taking it easy. nope. it still falls to me. yes, as it always does.

Hey guys.. quick question:

I'm going to be hiring a farm manager in the spring for room and board and a wee tiny salary. I want to keep it strictly business and not a commune. With my new job, I don't have the extra time the farm requires. I also plan on traveling next year so I need someone reliable to watch over this place. Is there a site to use to check people's history so I can be fairly sure they aren't axe murderers? Something that checks that they are who they say they are and don't have criminal histories? I don't mind paying a fee for the background checks.

Anybody have experience with this? Should I advertise here and on sites like Intentional Communities or keep it to the more local paper?

 

There is a fee based background check site... I don't remember the name though.

 

Here there's a thing called LiveScan that's supposedly as thorough as it gets. Some agencies are more well-known than others, so better to go with someone who's more reputable. If you decide on one maybe check Yelp! to see if they are any good, or if someone reported a complaint. You may also do well to check and see if they are rated by the Better Business Bureau. The reason for all this is.. it's not free. Sorry.

 

I wouldn't trust the Better Business Bureau, after working for a business that was registered with them, and seeing how they handle complaints.

Remember - they make their money from the businesses that they rate, not from you

 

I don't know if they would have it but Consumer Reports is another place to check and see if your LiveScan place is credible. I think the Better Business Bureau is okay though. It's for background checks too. It isn't as though someone is calling in to complain about a fly in their tuna salad sandwich.
