how important is it to instill quality into everything that you do, esp. the special trade/crafts you pursue? I imagine a lot as i do. However, in the rapid push to cheap and rapid housing in the raging fires of suburbia, such novel ideas such as work(wo)manship and pride are being lost in the saw dust of assembly line "cookie cutter" modular housing and machine run factories. The depleating supply of hard wood and now soft is overwhelming, and the neccessity to Use the alternatives which actually would be maximizeng the potential value of humanity in every way, are "outlawed" or snickered at and railroaded just as the infamous incidenct in which derived said chiche. It's insane to destroy more and more forest to make way for housing developments. read "the great land hustle", and if you have, you know exactly what i'm talking about. it's a travesty in the highest regard, we're sitting here thinking that wood is the ultimite building material. ALl a COVERUP to give justice to cutting down all the virgin forest of the planet Earth and perpetuating a one world one mind gestapo!! Hemp makes the ultimite plywood hurricane proof literally. Hemp would also make great piles for dock building, stock "ply-lumber" and would be superior to the cutting edge"hardy board" siding on the market now, and also much ligheer and easier to work with. Unfortunatley, this push towards uni-sation a.k.a. globalization a.k.a. the blood soaked mongoring of helplesss seals by cackling brain sizzzled rabid hyenas out of some sick routine mission for a few bored nazi walruses-on the barren deserted landscape of the american dream is much more than that. Yet the World Vision of the true Rainbow still burns in a corner in a dusty warehouse where once the world danced at a man's fingertips, and where a streetsigns still remember. This notion of all this is not lost if you realize the potential in your place Here in this land of the forgotten to Educate yourself by researching Real history, which can only be found on the internet and hunted books, and you have access to the last free knoledge left in this country NOW is the time to act. or else do crafts or both! it's so much fun doing stuff for yourself, getting down and dirty in the nitty gritty realizing how much fun it is to rely on yourself for a change, and rewarding watch that sun come up and be exactly where you want to be doing exaclty what you want to be doing...makes it a whole lot better to watch it go down too! it will be necessary to adapt, or really, simply go Back, obviously, in the times to come. the essence of humanity is creativity, the ability to envision things that havn't happened in that time and make them happen. Taking the things with you from here and times much earlier, it will be far more pleasant to live in a self sustained world than the world of the egotistical Mother fuckers who run the show today. SOO Much more it's laughable. Astonishing things happen when you start to go back into technology that existed in anceint blosssoming civilizzzations who revered the Mother, the Nature, the Ocean, the Moon AND the Father, the seed, the sun, the protector. Now look at what it's become. really, truely amazing things start to happen when you get where you truely deserve to be, and that, is Free..
Wouldn't the world be a beautiful place if we could all live in Built Green neighborhoods like these: http://www.cottagecompany.com/ccConover.html If only they were more affordable for your average consumer.
little boxes on the hillside little boxes made of ticky tacky little boxes on the hillside and they all look the same theres a red one and a green one and a blue one and a yellow one and they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look the same and all the people in the houses all went to the university where they were all put in boxes and they came out just the same
I think that there are people who appreciate the craft and don't mind spending the extra dollar... although unfortunately we live in an age where life is expensive and once in a while we have to go the cheaper route.
As with any business venture, at first the cost exceeds the harvest. You cannot do anything to your potential until forces are combined with others yes, and engineer pioneering building techniques going against the grian of what is available mass produced. Look where organic was 5 years ago, and where it is today...it is phenominal! People actually seem to want this to happen. It is the only sane way, also.... I am a big proponet of green housing. Yes, I think true green housing means more than just being painted green. I have to go all the way to the roots. I think trees surrounding your dwelling is a more appropiate fit, in fact it's essential for a truely healthy living environment. Instead of foolishy squandering away money for 4000 square foot cookie cutter houses, you could have put 10 houses on that acre lot. Now we're getting down to the real roots of modern soceity now! Who owns that acre lot that only sells it to the rich? The public! It's an outrage how our public lands are being devoured by real estate interests at the sideway glance of the gov't who is supposed to be regulating it. It's good business What we want to do is not good business, to let people know it's possible to live a better life self sustained off the grid, making your own power, making your own bread and butter, and being free in this country which is deffinitly not!
I live even closer to people in my neighbourhood, but a dream would be to back into a meadow, mountains, and ravines...
