ya know when I glanced at the title in the "New Posts" listing I thought it said "The Hobbit 2 comes in my mouth" I just had to take a look. Guess that shows where my mind is at....... now to go find the wife...... *Honey, come here, I've got a snack for you...*
I think they make them all at the same time (with breaks for Christmas and other holidays) to save time and money - so the next two The Hobbit: There and Back Again (post-production) 2013 The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (post-production) 2014 ...are both in post-production - nearly ready for release. Why wait If they are done and dusted? Would you prefer The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug to be put of till 2015 or 2016?
I would prefer one movie of The hobbit, since the story was even shorter than one book of Lord of the rings. I think it's pretty retarded to make The hobbit into a trilogy as well and have to wait more than 2 years to see the end. I haven't watched the first part yet But I guess now they have 3 christmass movies instead of one.
Only the last sentence. I mean the rest. Well the last sentence is still true of course, I'm afraid they just make 3 for the money. Probably fill it up with some stuff from the Silmarillion and drag some scenes out like in LotR. I'll probably not bother with these movies until they're all for free on the internet or perhaps even catch them on tv some years later
Asmodean I wait till these types of films come on TV. I've tried to sit in a cinema for over two hours before, and I never made it. I vaguely remember one of the LotR films having about 28 near endings or something! Torture! Btw, I agree with what you said, I just felt your heart wasn't in it, that's all.
I am looking forward to it being released. My daughter has an exam that day and one the next and she is already plotting how she is going to study so that she can see it one the release date.
Good chance I'll watch it opening weekend. I agree making a trilogy about it makes for a bloated storyline considering the source material, but hey, I'll likely enjoy it regardless.
'Nearly ready' doesn't mean ready. I know a few people who work for the company who do the digital effects, and trust me, work is still being done even on the one that is due for release shortly. There are a lot of people doing loooooong hours to get stuff done on time.
I realise (post-production) does not mean 'ready' I meant that if the entire production were to go on a 6 month hiatus, or even a year long hiatus inbetween movies, then wouldn't there be atleast another 6 months to a year long wait longer than there is going to be between the two imminent films?
I dont get why they are so popular. I get why they do ok, it is fantasy. The Hobbit ended up taking over 1 Billion, Which kind of suggests all demographics going to see it. Its Orlando Bloom dressed as a ladyboy and a whole bunch of short hairy guys
