I'm super stoked. In one of my college English classes we are doing a paper about what we do habitually and we have to observe it in a way that we normally don't look at things. I raised my hand today and said that I don't do anything habitually except for listening to one band every single day (mornings, nights, afternoons, whenever!). I asked if that is what I could write my paper about and she said yes. This project is going to be so fun. I honestly think I'm going to find some way or form to attribute the GD in at least once in every paper I right this year, whether its a quote or some part of history. I'm so happy I'm in college! Have any of you ever written a paper on the Grateful Dead? How did you do on it? Loving Much. Bambi
how are you going to observe them in a different way? just curious, sounds like a fun paper to write. i vaguely remember writing a paper on the dead in college, my english 101 professor was just like 5 years older than his students and obviously a stoner, so he ate that shit up. I can't remember what the topic was though....i'm gonna have to go back and see if I have that paper laying around anywhere
Make sure to include witty song title puns like "I find myself listening to the Dead while watching the morning dew and when the weekend comes its just One more saturday night with the Grateful Dead."
if youre going to write a paper on the Grateful Dead. You should do it on the back of LSD Blotter paper.. (for funzies)..

Check out 'The Dead Book - a social history of the Grateful Dead' by Hank Harrison if you can locate a copy. Obviously more than a paper, but it might give you some ideas.
Thank you everyone haha. Meliai- I don't have to "observe" them. It is more or less observing me and my obsession. And guerillabedlam that is such a good idea to put little puns like that in my paper haha I never thought of that. Actually I haven't thought too much about it yet but I have English in 15 min! So I'll keep everyone posted. Have a Grateful Day!!!
i would get a tactile transducer: http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=CAT&srchCat=634 hook it to the stereo, put some kind of 'link' and attach it to my body(vaseline would work-silicone window sealant may be too permanent for most folks) and turn your favorite dead tune loud. for more than you may be able to stand, get two 'exciters', or one and a bass shaker (not the same as a bass o'matic), and do the same. the body part you select is up to you. you might try the vaseline first and hook the vibes to different places to see what does the best-right over the solar plexus for a bass shaker might be really intense. good god y'all... if you're already doing this, i guess it wouldn't be different. but, if you're already doing it, you surely are different. where can one go from the top except down?
aww, c'mon, wa! harold stern did it in the movie! that woman got off sitting on the speaker....and howard's coaching her on on the phone.... i mean, where's the sense of adventure in college people nowadays? my first college english professor..uh..professor of english...was whacked out on the oedipus story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oedipus_the_King http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophocles if the bust of Sophocles is accurate (not THAT kind of bust! ), he don't LOOK like he's high, you know?
probably put him and the ol' lady on youtube, too! lol! wonder if she looked as good as the baywatch critter? given recent standards of political behaviour, he'll have to resign as king. 'Don't touch my hair! Don't muss my hair!!!' this time, it IS the medications http://www.metafilter.com/64105/Oedipus-The-Movie
