with all the news about the gay basketball player and another player saying he hates gay and wouldn't want to play with a gay player, i myself don't how i feel about this issue

i haven't decided if i was a basketball player if i would want to be playing alongside a gay teammate... quite ambivalent about this... maybe if he was cute, had a nice ass and a big dick, i might go for it but first i would have to check him out

Haha, I read that a couple of days ago. Amaiche (sp?) sucked as it is... didn't he play for the Jazz for at least a year or two though?

I'm 100% sure that this statement is true:

Stockton + Malone = Showerfun. (I used to post on basketball forums when I was like 13 and still a very silly young kid and and and... they banned me for too many Stockton and Malone jokes :D)

at least own up to your hate...don't apologize for what you say if you truly feel that way abotu gays. people who apologize for the sake of PR are cowards - if you hate, then own that hate.

i bet he'd change his mind real quick about how he feels about gays if he was on a team of white guys who didn't like or want a black person on the team and they wanted him traded just cuz of his skin color.

and its professional basketball, you're teamate isn't going to be sizing you up before the game in the locker room.

Oh geez.... shame on him for not being politically correct. How dare he have an opinion of his own. He should be thrown in jail for not pledging his love for the gays. He should be arrested and charged with a thoughtcrime.

I agree with you, i'm fed up of people saying i' not homophobic and then it becomes clear they have a discomfortant around gay people.
unfortuantly, i have known people who have been at the rough end of prejudice and are prejudice to other people themselves.
in a lot of peoples minds they are doing the right thing so prejudice against them is unaccpetable, however because they feel they are right their prejudices still hold true and they never link the two

btw congrats cheif for wording another post in juat a way and posting it in a forum where it will get maxium inpact

He has a right to say and think whatever he wants, but he's still an idiot. If he had any other occupation, this wouldn't even be news worthy.

I still think I'd fire him if I was his boss though. Heck, if one of my employees walked around my office proclaiming their hatred for gays (or women, blacks, nerds, etc...) I'd fire them too.

These days they can. Hell, Congress wants to pass a hate crime/hate speech law that can have you thrown in jail just for saying something bad about someone else. Talk about a fascist, orwellian society.

    In Georgia you certainly can.

It would be considered harassment if they were expressing that opinion all over the office making it an uncomfortable working environment.

It's all about not having an opinion of your own, towing the line and being PC. Right?

No, it's about having a cohesive team to work with. A disruptive hateful employee usually will destroy that cohesiveness and lower morale for everybody else.

He has a right to express his opinion, but that doesn't mean that he should be exempt from the consequences of his actions.

    Well put.

I find it interesting how these gay "controversies" inevitably "out" some people as ignorant bigots.

I don't think people should have the right to express prejudices at work.
in the work enviroment we are all there for a reason to get a job done, not to make political statements.
in a cafe if you want to tell me why you don't like me being gay then thats fine, but at work I don't see why I should have to defend myself or explain myself in anyway, if someone has a problem with someones elses sexual preferences then keep it to themselves, its only professional
and that goes with having a problem with class, race, religion and age etc.

I wonder wether the people who argue free speech in discussions like these have ever had to live with a mjor amount of prejudice aimed at them in their lives

This is why I hate Europeans so much.

    (I keed I keed)

Don't worry, I would imagine that eventually, we Americans will lose our right to free speech, and this will no longer be an issue.

You obviously don't know what it's like to be a tall, heterosexual, good looking, white male with a full head of hair and plenty of money in this country. It's as if the whole world is against us.

Was it my deep southern accent that made it so unclear?

You should switch to a less location specific accent when typing.

Probably not- and I strongly doubt that they'd be able to deal with it for very long.
