The Frat Experience

Anyone here a member of a fraternity?
If yes, I'd like to know:
- what was your main motivation for joining?
- what was the fraternity like? (tell what you can tell)
- what challenges did you go through?
- are you completely aligned with the frat's ideals?
- did the fraternity change you? For better or for worse?

when i was a freshman, one frat kind of pitched itself to me. and there were a few frat guys i occasionally partied with throughout school (including two of my college weed dealers). i don't think the whole frat thing would have been as bad as people say, especially if you got into the right one. not for me though.

 

I have not known any frat boys in person, but Hollywood has taught me that they are all douchebags.

 

I have partied at some frat houses at UCLA. The people in them are pretty cool. i doubt anyone on this site has been in one though. Your best bet is to actually go to one of the frat houses and talk to the boys themselves.

 

My ex-boyfriend was in some fraternity. Pretty sure he joined it because he goes to great lengths to try to look cool. He started smoking because he wanted to look cool. Anyway, he showed me their super secret etiquette book and apparently that's some kind of cardinal sin. It was stupid. He was also stupid.

He's the only frat guy I've known. And he's an annoying douche. Doesn't mean they all are, but probably most of them.

 

been to several colleges and universities. never could see one single reason to want any such thing. nor to want to live other then alone, off campus, and as cheaply as i could.

 

Nah. For some reason getting spanked by a bunch of guys to join a group that usually you have to pay for never seemed for me.

 

yeah, i'd rather just pay guys to spank me and leave out the whole membership aspect.

 

Mmmmmm I didn't know u had to pay to be in a frat. I've had this fantasy where I'm at a frat party and suddenly I turn around and it real late and almost everyone has gone home but me and like a few other stray people and the frat guys start yelling for every one to go home but tell me to stay. That turns into a night of rough group sex that I don't remember till I'm in my late forties.

 

Theres a show on the discovery channel about mermaids. I know that seems out of context, but I'm sure a mermaid could spank you.

My cousin is in a fraternity and loves it. He says it gives him a sense of family on campus, lots of connections and always a place to stay or party. It really opened alot of doors for him. He'd highly recommend it to anyone.

However you won't ever catch me joining a sorority

 

Yeah I'm finding that connections are far more important than I had ever previously thought

 

My recommendation is to join an all girl biker gang.

Very true. Also everytime I order pizza, the pizza man asks "did you order something hot and italian?" and leads to gay sex.

I'm not even gay, I just feel bad about not tipping the delivery guy.
