In my youthful times of wonder
I often held myself back from curiosity
By resisting my bold an daring qualities
And slowly testing the waters with my big toe.

With time I lost my resistence
I once possessed and held so dearly
    As a young blossom
Aging into an apple, mangled by locusts
    Tucked under a protective branch
So no sun could see me.

It did not keep me far from
    The parasite's bite, decaying fruit
Which was once so young and flowery
Now, beaten down by broken heart's despiar
Left for dead in the shadows.

nice job - 'specially that 1st stanza - and, mate, you're only 18?! Don't give up on your apple so soon... it ain't ready to eat. Some apple farmer will come and trim the branches, you'll get the light, no worries.

    Apples and tomatos...
I like apples alone, tomatos on salads.
And I liked the poem. The last stanza was a little dark but timed pretty well. Came accross very strong.

Loved this, BFH! You worked a wonderful flow... the first stanza introduced this well, the second (my favorite, btw) really kicked it up and there was some great language here, and the last stanza took it to a great dark close. Thumbs up from me, thanks for sharing this... :)

I'm not a sad dead apple I swear!
    - I just find dark poetry more intriguing
