I love fishing especially fly fishing and I'm wondering if you guys do also! Please share any photos of them in this thread. Doesn't matter what species and how big These are my 1st 2 catches of the year. Used a spinning reel with a 7 foot medium heavy fast action rod with a rooster tail. Chain Pickeler. Pulled them off of my Instagram as I have a new phone and photos did not transfer to the one I'm using now.
I used to go fishing all the time as a kid but haven’t gone in 30 years. Mostly Bass, Sunfish, and Catfish
Is that good to eat? I am not fond of freshwater fish at all... I do like fish from the sea. The flavor is completely different.
You would love it here in Mexico then. Ever had a fish taco? Or with giant shrimps? They eat fish tacos for breakfast around this area by the bay, with many fishermen as neighbors.
I would eat fish tacos. Zen I would love to own a place in Mexico. I could use it to tan me in weeks.
One early memory I have is when I was really young, 3 or 4, we went to Nebraska and my uncle David gave me a fishing pole or something... I remember a dock or lake and a fish! but that's it. My parents do not remember (which perhaps isn't terribly unusual - they're over 75 years old), and I'm not certain but it's in my memory for some reason.
I used to fish a lot... Still have some of my gear, haven't fished for more than 20 years. Not sure why I still have that gear.
You'd get fat here eating fish tacos for breakfast every day, sleeping in the hammock and getting sunburnt, then drinking tequila all night long and howling at the moon with the others. It's a lot of fun. Lots of fishermen here... in fact we are having fresh red snapper for dinner tonight! Clean out the guts, wash it good. Slash it deeply criss-cross both sides. Rub with about twenty garlic cloves chopped up, with olive oil and sea salt. Either grill it or pan fry it... but it is heaven on earth. The cheeks are best, but I don't eat the eyes.
I meant to say earlier how surprised I am that there is so much fishing going on in Mexico of which I mostly pictured as the desert.
There is a lot of coastline. Desert meets the sea here. Fascinating. Over on the mainland there are vast forests and plantations inland, here nothing but cactus up and down the entire Baja Peninsula.
Hmmm... that's a stock photo. The one I have was also cleaned and scaled when I got it... a bit more than a kilo.. enough for two
