ok this is my first thread in this particular forum and i think some background is nessisary. i have grown up in the church, my father was an evangelist, then pastor, than a district overseer in the church of god. a few years ago some false accusations of adultery were made about my father, there was a hearing, i was a witness, and he was found not guilty. after this he was promptly removed from his position and we needed a new place to live hence i live in RI now instead of CT. here is the fucked up part. as we were looking for a place, the church turned off the power in the house, and evicted us (how christian, nice way to say thank you to your devoted pastor for 6 years) we were forced to live in the basement of a family friend (the only true christian ive ever met) mind you a family of 4. meanwhile the "temporary replacement" became the permanent pastor (he was a judge during my dads hearing, which is illegal according to church of god rules) my sister became ensnared in Heroin, i became obsessed with escaping with any drug i could possibly find, and my mom is slowly backsliding, my father has been stripped of his pride, his faith in the denomination, and his first love: pastoring.

lets get to my point. i am a "pk" a pastors kid and ive met plenty of them. every single pastors kid i know is the most vile, sinful person ever. and i know why: we are constantly being watched and expected to be more than human, which i am certainly not. i hate it because since birth we have this doctrine shoved down our throughts untill we choke, we grow up having not 2 parents but we have as many parents as there are adults in the congregation. what give the congregation the right to be my parent? its bullshit. the world of the modern day christian is nothing like the intention of christ. being a christian is about being christ-like that what christian means after all. but you have made me, like god himself, spit out your luke-warm faith. if all of you christians are 100% right then i have been damned to hell by all of the christians i have ever met, with your ever-judgemental eyes you have pushed me away from salvation.

so be a real christian and treat your pastors kid with some respect, if you are an adult, its not your responsibility to be their parent, they have those already. dont make them repulsed at the thought of the religion of their upbringing. thank you and may your god bless

Wow, sorry to hear about your family's misfortunes.

I can't think of anything else to say except welcome to this forum, looks like you NEED it! :)

I will say that I'm really getting impressed with where this forum is heading. Not that I just want to see ppl bashing Xtianity, but now I can see how people like this need such a place to vent their feelings which no doubt have been bottled up most of their lives.

In addition, people are waking up to the idea that religion is still oppressing millions of people, and that religion itself is a problem that society must come to terms with if we are to survive and not have a World Religious War (WRW).

BTW, here's a NEW BOOK, that sorta covers this topic:
God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything
It's #8 right now on! So you can see how this issue is VERY POPULAR right now. I actually think there's a movement gathering momentum to limit the influence of religion in society. At this point it's all about spreading the word, next it will be about organizing to do something about how religions have poisoned our minds, our society & our planet!

Zoomie My mom is dead, ok?

No, we got the point. And when we meet more Christians who actually live by that philosophy, we'll let you know.

Zoomie, I know MANY Christians who live by that philosophy. They are quite easy to find if you look with unbaised eyes and don't auto-hate every Christian you see. Anyway, back on topic. I know a pastors kid who does all sorts of illegal things. But I wouldn't call him vile or sinful. Mainly he just does drugs, which I don't think are vile or sinful lol.
