the Evil of Religion and the Intuition of Children

Can anybody relate to this?
(note: I was raised Catholic, so I'm talking about the Catholic church specifically)

When I was a kid there were few things in the world I hated more than going to church.

It just accured to me how strange this is. I mean, church was only 1 hour a week yet I loathed it more than the 30 hours a week I had to go to school (which I also wasn't crazy about) even though church didn't involve any work, there were no social pressures, and if nothing else it represented a full hour of not having to worry about being yelled at. Shit they never even got on your case for not paying attention!!

So why was it so disagreeable?

Theory: The uncorrupted intution of children sense something fundementally wrong with the whole idea or "church".
you could back this up with some passages out of the gospels themselves:

*"Verily I say unto you unless you become like little children you will not see God"

"Suffer the little children to come unto me for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven"

Like I said I was raised Catholic but I was wonderring if anybody else felt this way as a kid?

 

Catholics are very nice people.

 

He looks like a nice boy. and such a snappy dresser!

I always hated going to church as a kid as well..

What denomination? Just want to see if non-catholic kids felt the same way.

Baptist..then UPC but yeah hated it

 

I just dont like sitting in a boring place for a long time yet I dont hate it as much as school

 

Baptist, had to go 3 times a week plus attended the school there and had chapel 5 times a week for school. So I went to chuch a total of 8 times a week for 10 years. I was fine with it in elementary, all my friends were there, but once I started getting past about 10 years old I HATED it.
