In his previous stint as President, Trump disbanded the NSA's Directorate of Global Health Security and Biodefense which had been established by Barak Obama and shitcanned the National Biodefense Strategy just in time for COVID 19. He appointed Robert Redfield to head CDC despite his complete lack of experience (although he had written a paper once, recommending rounding up all Gay people with AIDS into camps). Trump eliminated the CDC's epidemiological liaison with the China's analogous disease control agency, just in time for COVID 19 to arise in China. Trump was advised by his National Security Advisor in January 2020 that “This will be the biggest national security threat you face in your presidency...This is going to be the roughest thing you face." In February he confided to Bob Woodward of the Washington Post that “It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flu... This is deadly stuff”, yet for months continued to do absolutely nothing but play golf, reassuring the American people that “It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.” Instead, Trump delegated the federal response to his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, despite Kushner's manifest lack of credentials, knowledge or experience. However, Kushner suggested that because the virus had hit Democratic states hardest, a national plan was unnecessary and would not make sense politically. He believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, they could blame the ensuing deaths on those Democratic governors, and that would be an effective reelection strategy. To further that political agenda, in March 2020 the federal government sent California 170 broken ventilators from the national stockpile. Several Democratic governors across the country, including New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, had been pleading with the federal government for more equipment, including ventilators, to respond to the coronavirus outbreak. Instead, Trump donated and delivered 200 high-quality ventilators and COVID testing equipment to Russia. The United States covered 100% of the cost, delivery, and startup supplies for the 200 ventilators being delivered, valued at approximately $5.6 million. Meanwhile, Trump was loudly promoting nonsensical cures like Ivermectin (an anti-parasitic; COVID is a virus), hydroxychloraquine (manufactured by companies in which Trump owned stock), intravenous household bleach, and even publicly ruminated about shoving UV lights up your ass, all the while ridiculing of even the most basic public health hygiene, intentionally politicizing masks into a cause célèbre among his knuckle-dragging MAGA cult, and continually interfering with the efforts of the CDC. By August, the U.S. had the highest incidence of infection, and ultimately the highest death toll of any country in the industrialized world. The Brookings Institute estimated that Trump's incompetence and willful malfeasance directly caused the preventable deaths of 784,762 Americans. Trump has said that he will appoint Elon Musk to head a new government efficiency commission, and Musk has vowed to cut “at least $2 trillion” from the federal budget. Such cuts would decimate government services, including public health agencies; HHS and its sub-agencies, CDC, FDA, and NIH (it'll also be the end of food programs and Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, but that's fodder for another rant) and undoubtedly all things Biden, including his Pandemic Preparedness and Response Agency, Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response, and Office of Pandemics and Emerging Threats. Trump has promised Kennedy control of the public health agencies; HHS and its sub-agencies, CDC, FDA, and NIH (if there are any skeletal remains after Musk's budget axe), and has stated that he's amenable to Kennedy's crackpot ideas, such as a national ban on all vaccines (he can't be bothered with such details; after all, he'll be busy playing golf). Like most Trump apparatchiks in the past, neither has any relevant experience in medicine, public health, or government. Annually, the risks of a pandemic similar to COVID are 50:1 (the spread is narrowing due to climate change, intensive monoculture, and overuse of antibiotics). Based upon our previous experience with our new monarch, what do you think will happen if the next global pandemic is a mutated strain of something really nasty, like Ebola or Marburg, except aerosolized and more virulent; 'Black Death 2.0', with these motherfuckers are in charge?

We do have capacity to do that work stateside; the Pharma Co's that gain so much from government transfers ought to employ American workers who are subject to domestic regulators both local and national.
