I would never have known about this ship with out the song by Gordon Lightfoot , it is a very haunting song to hear . Years ago I was eating at a fast food place , in the next booth two guys were talking about ships on the great lakes . I asked them about the Edmond Fitzgerald , I think one of them had served on her . He said he was sure the main cargo hatches leaked and flooded causing the ship to sink . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmond_Fitzgerald https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgI8bta-7aw"]The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - YouTube I dont think this is Gordon Lightfoot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAJEm41uXcA"]Edmund FitzGerald 1 - YouTube

I grew up in Norther Minnesota, which happens to be directly on Lake Superior. I know alllll about the Edmond Fitzgerald. They act like its the Titantic where I come from. If I recall correctly, an old school mate's grandfather died on the ship. I didn't click on the video. I can't imagine it being a very good song.
The song is sung by Gordon Lightfoot , I think its a good song , just a bit haunting . The videos are of the Fitzgearld , and her crew , the 29 men that went down when she sank . I think 2 were 20 , 2 years older than me . I was 18 in 75, but hear in Arizona .
