The eco-friendly potato

    Here's an interesting article I read in the paper today, the potato has apparently gone green, and been bred into an "eco-friendly" variety.

    Well there you go, I always thought you couldn't really get anything more environmentally friendly than a root vegetable, I guess I was wrong...

    Scientists in Dundee claim to have developed an "environmentally sound" potato which needs less water and fertiliser than other varieties.

    Doesn't say anything about genetic modification.

    It's just been cross bred, I guess lots of vegetables and stuff have been bred in similar ways.

    You are right though, mother nature is the best spud designer.

    Yeah GM foods piss me off, i can understand the value of strong crops but stuff like seedless watermelon is just stupid, deal with the seeds people, dont modify it because you're a lazy ass!

    Again, I don't think it's GM. They would say if it was, I think most supermarkets have banned GM ingredients in the UK so it wouldn't sell anyway.
