Trump is continuing to set up Powell as a scapegoat for any damage on the economy that Trump's trade war precipitates.

"Mr Powell was giving a keynote speech at the annual convention for central bankers in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Although he said the US economy was in a "favourable place" he listed a series of economic and geopolitical risks linked to Mr Trump's trade war with China.

There are "no recent precedents to guide any policy response to the current situation," Mr Powell said, adding that monetary policy "cannot provide a settled rulebook for international trade".

The Fed chief has been under pressure from Mr Trump for a deep cut in interest rates, and has faced a series of derogatory Twitter posts from the president.

But Friday's attacks were among the most critical. "As usual, the Fed did NOTHING! It is incredible that they can 'speak' without knowing or asking what I am doing, which will be announced shortly," Mr Trump wrote on Twitter. "We have a very strong dollar and a very weak Fed. I will work 'brilliantly' with both, and the US will do great.""

 

Trump continues to act like a tin pot Third World dictator. Since when does the U.S. President have the authority to order U.S. companies around?

What Trump announced in response to Powell's speech (which he was upset about because Powell didn't defer to Trump first before the speech) was order U.S. companies to not do business with China.

Trump is coming apart at the seams as the realization sets in that he can't get everything he demands.

 

Trump misspelled 'Powell' in his tweet.

 

Or order the federal reserve around.

 

The Fed was set up as an independent agency specifically to protect it from this sort of blatant efforts by presidents to influence it's policies. He appointed Powell, so if he doesn't like him, it reflects once again on his bad judgment in making appointments.

A real danger is further roiling the markets.

Trump appointed Powell, so if he doesn't like the Fed chief it's just another case of his own bad judgment in appointments when he promised to pick "the best people".

The republican party is lead by KKK members, and the fact flaming idiot has anywhere near the approval of half the population, is merely proof the American political system is totally bankrupt. Sorry, but you cannot have a democracy when half the population rejects the idea, and keeps voting for whoever advertises the most, or voting the bums out of office. Democratic party members: You're Fired! Republicans may be stupid enough to insist majority rule is synonymous with democracy, but a fucking KKK led government is a lynch mob by any definition.
