Trump Pardons Michael Behenna, Former Soldier Convicted Of Killing Iraqi Prisoner

    excerpts:

"The push to pardon Behenna, an Oklahoma native, was taken up by the most powerful politicians in his home state. Members of Congress offered their support, as did former Gov. Mary Fallin and state Attorney General Mike Hunter — who repeatedly asked Trump to pardon Behenna."

"Behenna's family has worked vigorously on his behalf — and they are well-positioned to do so, with deep ties to law enforcement and the legal system. His father, Scott Behenna, has worked for both the FBI and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. His mother, Vicki Behenna, is an attorney and former longtime federal prosecutor in Oklahoma City who has led the charge to help her son — first to win parole and then to gain a presidential pardon."

And Oklahoma loves Trump. Well, not all of us, but enough to make voting in the next election a purely symbolic act for folks like me.

Trumps father (although a card carrying member of the KKK) was also a shrewd businessman who built an empire and amassed a fortune. Since Donald Trump has taken over he’s done nothing but lose money.
During the 1980s and early 1990s high yield bonds are what probably kept a steady flow of income coming into the business, especially after a series of bankruptcies including 3 casinos, The trump Plaza Hotel,
and the disaster that was the Trump Shuttle, the former Eastern Airlines Shuttle.

The interesting thing is Eastern Airlines made money off the shuttle, and yet after trump took over he drove it into the ground.

I have a liberal friend who has lived in Oklahoma most of her forty five years. She is finally getting out and moving to Oregon next month.

The Senate Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr. to answer questions about his contention that he had only limited knowledge of a project to build a Trump Tower in Moscow

What I want to know is why everyone else who lied to the Senate intelligent community was referred to the Justice Department for prosecution, and yet the Senate is giving Trump Jr an opportunity to explain himself [IMG]

‘Fox & Friends’ Showers Trump With Praise for Losing $1 Billion

‘Fox & Friends’ Showers Trump With Praise for Losing $1 Billion

    excerpt:

"The hosts over at Fox & Friends have spent their morning gushing with praise for Donald Trump after The New York Timesrevealed records showing that he lost over $1 billion over a ten-year period.

The president’s most loyal newscasters tried very hard to find a way to put a positive spin on the numbers that showed that Trump lost a total of $1.17 billion from 1985 to 1994—so much that he was able to avoid paying income taxes for eight of the 10 years, according to the report.

“If anything, you read this and you’re like ‘Wow, it’s pretty impressive, all the things that he’s done in his life,’ said breathless host Ainsley Earhardt. “It’s beyond what most of us could ever achieve.”"

Oklahoma has had record prison rates and a variety of other problems such as a failing school system.

Trump could brag that he reduced the Oklahoma convict population when he pardoned the U.S. troop who murdered an Iraqi.

Oklahoma isn't working. Can anyone fix this failing American state?
Poverty, police abuse, record prison rates and education cuts that mean a four-day school week. Why are public services failing Oklahomans?

The problems in Oklahoma are typical of the problems that plague many red states.

Sometimes a state will enact a deep tax cut , this scheme to improve the economy may fail , and then not enough taxes are collected .
It's the casino economy , eh ? Or desparation .

Trump turns shooting migrants into a punchline at Florida rally

Trump turns shooting migrants into a punchline at Florida rally

    excerpt:

"Trump’s latest rally was an ugly scene

Trump also explicitly mocked asylum seekers and their lawyers, who he ominously claimed are “paid by somebody that’s not exactly friendly to this crowd.”

He pushed a conspiracy theory about migrants representing an “invasion” of the country — the same notion that motivated a gunman to open fire at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh in October, killing 11. He suggested, without evidence, that migrants avoid crossing the border at ports of entry because they have women tied up in their cars."

About half the voting public in the U.S. now considers such attributes to be virtues and would vote for someone like Trump again.

There was a time when those in the U.S. had a sense of ethics and would look at the antics of other countries, particularly third world countries, and question how the public could have ever voted in such fringe and unsavory people. Now the U.S. isn't any different from them.

Hey MeAgain, check out Anderson V. Dunn 1821 a case very relevant today. It is about Congressional power on inherent contempt. They can send the sergeant at arms to put hand cuffs on William Barr and hold in in jail until he complies with the lawful order from Congress. The famous case says Congress has the Power to Enforce its Lawful Orders. I am not sure but think it was used by the Republicans on Susan McDougal during Whitewater … when Bill Clinton was hounded and investigated for eight years!

U.S. farmers who don't like the idea of welfare should prepare themselves psychologically to be willing to accept more aid from the government.

Trump Renews Trade War as China Talks End Without a Deal

    excerpt:

"On Friday, it appeared that the trade dispute was lurching in the direction of an all-out economic war. In addition to raising tariffs to 25 percent on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, Mr. Trump said his administration is preparing to tax another $325 billion worth of China’s imports. China has threatened to retaliate with its own “countermeasures,” which include ending purchases of American farm goods and erecting other nontariff barriers for companies trying to gain access to the Chinese market."

That's not welfare those are "subsidies"..
The government just makes us burn corn in our cars to increase demand for it, outlaws sugarcane-ethanol, and it pays farmers not to plant crops such as corn, wheat, cotton, rice, peanuts, and tobacco...just let their fields lay around fallow.
Ya know give farmers money not to work.

They've been doing it since 1922.
In 2005 they got $14 billion dollars of free money.
So I don't think it'll bother them at all.

It sure has the flavor of welfare for the rich. Some corn and soy farmers in Indiana have thousands of acres. Out west some ranchers have over a hundred thousand acres.
