If McCarthy thinks Trump didn't know about the riot, he needs to reconcile that assertion with his call to Trump (which he said was one of the early calls to Trump as the riot started) when he pleaded with Trump to stop the riot as his office windows were being broken by the rioters.
Bush Sr. implemented the Bush presidential library in accordance with the Presidential Records Act and the National Archives. Trump took home government property without permission and said it would be used later for his library that he said would show how great he was.
Trump made a remark at his rally in NV in October that sounds in agreement with such a notion. He said that one negotiates with the Presidential Records Act. Trump and his attorneys continue to portray his actions with the seized documents as a minor issue within the context of the Presidential Records Act.
McCarthy wants to be Speaker of the House. He was caught on an audio recording saying he wanted Trump removed from office after the riot at the Capitol. McCarthy later said that he wanted Trump censored but not impeached. His stance continued to soften, saying that Trump complied with his request to send his rioters home while his office windows were being broken by rioters. Trump's response came after a few hours of rioting and after McCarthy's request which occurred when the rioting began. Trump said that he loved his rioters who were very special. Within a matter of weeks, McCarthy went back to Trump with full, unabashed loyalty. Police officer Fanone visited McCarthy (and other GOP members of Congress) in person and said he was getting his rear end beaten while Trump did nothing for hours. Reports say that McCarthy didn't give Fanone a response.
