Trump desires Barrett on the Supreme Court as soon as possible to thwart voting ability.

Trump already lost a case that tried to thwart voting in PA when the Supreme Court ruled 4-4 due to the vacancy which allowed a lower court decision to stand.

Democratic AGs urge Supreme Court to deny Trump bid to block North Carolina mail-vote extension

    excerpt:

"More than a dozen Democratic state attorneys general on Monday urged the Supreme Court to deny a request from the Trump campaign to block an extended mail ballot due date in North Carolina.

The Monday filing comes after the Trump campaign and top Republican state lawmakers asked the justices last week to reverse lower court rulings that pushed back the deadline for the receipt of mail ballots by six days.

A group of 14 state attorneys generals, plus Karl Racine of Washington, D.C., argued in a friend-of-the-court brief that North Carolina’s new deadline was a reasonable accommodation in light of the coronavirus pandemic and anticipated delays by the Postal Service.

“As the primary managers of the election process and protectors of the public health, states have an obligation to protect each citizen’s constitutional right to vote while ensuring that this right can be exercised safely,” they wrote."

Two weeks after the Rose Garden Massacre damaged his campaign and while his officials were still dealing with contracting the virus themselves, Trump did a Mussolini-style staged event on the White House lawn while he was recovering from the coronavrus that supposedly would never reach the U.S., according to Kayleigh McEnany who also contracted the virus.

It further undermines any last hope voters may have had in him, particularly older white people who are susceptible to the virus and whose loss of support he has been trying to recover.

Could Justice Amy Coney Barrett deliver the election to Trump?

Could Justice Amy Coney Barrett deliver the election to Trump?

    excerpt:

"But consider this one. If Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed and seated before Election Day, there will be no chance of a tie unless she recuses herself. There is every reason to believe that she will not recuse herself. Recusal is indicated when the judge’s impartiality may be fairly questioned. But that venerable principle may not stop her.

Who will question her impartiality? Her conservative colleagues? Half the country? The other half will think she is free to vote. I predict that she will vote.

That means there is a good chance that the Supreme Court will, by a vote of 5-4, stay the count in Pennsylvania until thousands of signature-mismatched ballots are sorted out and disqualified even though the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling doesn’t change anything. It will be an administrative nightmare rivaling Florida’s infamous hanging chads in 2000.

The partisan views of Ginsburg and Barrett could not be more diametrically opposed. Ginsburg’s untimely death may ensure Trump’s reelection.

James Madison, one of the principal authors of the Constitution, believed that allowing the judiciary to choose the presidential electors “was out of the question.” But the new conservative majority on the court is sure to disagree. We may be on the road to having a president who is not elected by the will of the people, but by unelected judges."

We also have a condition where the Democrat judges are on the bench because they got 60 plus votes. We also have Republican judges on the bench because they got 51 votes. That seems unfair and inconsistent. If Republicans defend Mitch McConnell's changes in the way OUR SENATE confirms judges --Just because they can-- then when we Democrats can use the CAN word, we should change the rules too, because we can. There is no reason to be nice after McConnell's abusive ways. I say end the filibuster, pack the court with more judges, and dismiss the ones who only got the job with McConnell's 51 bare minimum votes. All the judges on the supreme court should have the job pursuant same qualifications. We don't need affirmative action for Republican extremists.

Trump threatens PA governor and say that the state of PA is shut down when it isn't.

Trump Threatens Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf: I’ll Withhold Federal Aid Because You Didn’t Help My Campaign

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump escalated his attacks on Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf on Monday, threatening to not come to the state’s aid as the deadly COVID-19 pandemic continues to plague it. “So Tom Wolf, next time give us a little notice, governor,” Trump said Monday at the Allentown rally appearance, claiming “your governor made it almost impossible for us to find any site” for the event. “And I’ll remember it, Tom. I’m going to remember it, Tom. ‘Hello, Mr. President, this is Gov. Wolf, I need help, I need help.’ You know what? These people are bad.”"

    No bipartisan support for Barrett.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...76c07e-1789-11eb-befb-8864259bd2d8_story.html

    excerpt:

"With only Republicans supporting her confirmation, Barrett is the first Supreme Court justice since Edwin Stanton in 1869 to be confirmed without bipartisan support, according to a review of Senate voting data by National Journal. Even Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.), who backed now-Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh in 2018 and Barrett for her circuit court seat three years ago, did not support her.

There were other factors that made the circumstances of Barrett’s confirmation unique, including the ongoing coronavirus pandemic — meaning a nomination that would’ve surely drawn large throngs of protests to the Capitol in a normal time instead operated in a literally sanitized sphere.

Monday’s planned White House ceremony gives a fitting bookend to her nomination, as Trump hosted a similar Rose Garden event on Sept. 26 to unveil Barrett as his pick, a ceremony which later was deemed a superspreader event. Numerous attendees were later diagnosed with covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, including the president and first lady Melania Trump, two GOP senators and the president of the University of Notre Dame."

Susan Collins didn't vote for Barrett.

Collins noted that there hasn't been a confirmation for a Supreme Court justice during an election year since 1932.

Senate confirms Amy Coney Barrett to Supreme Court

    excerpt:

"Barrett was confirmed by a vote of 52-48 on Monday evening, after Democrats exhausted the procedural maneuvers undertaken to delay her confirmation. Only one Republican, Senator Susan Collins, voted against confirming Barrett to the Supreme Court. All the Democrats voted against her, including red state Senators Doug Jones of Alabama, who is up for reelection this year, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh in 2018."

The span from Ginsburg's death to Barrett's confirmation was only five and a half weeks with the confirmation occurring about one week before the election.

Trump didn't even wait for Ginsburg to be buried before announcing his nomination of Barrett.

Ginsburg was buried three days after Trump's nomination announcement.
