We do know because European nations use this system. And to be blunt the money has always been there Republicans just HATE any sort of service and if it's not well a armed cop does not need 85K a year when he has at most a diploma. The problem is not paying the qualified it is paying the unqualified.

Continuing with his culture wars, Trump wants a NASCAR driver, Wallace, to apologize for what initially looked like a threat to him that elicicted a response from people supporting him, which frustrated Trump.

Trump has promoted a bigoted atmosphere that has caused people like Wallace to suspect nefarious intent

Trump calls for Bubba Wallace to apologize, takes swipe at NASCAR

    excerpt:

"Even some usual Republican allies pushed back against Trump's tweet.

“I don’t think Bubba Wallace has anything to apologize for,” South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade’s radio show on Monday. “You saw the best in NASCAR. When there was a chance that it was a threat against Bubba Wallace, [they] all rallied to Bubba’s side. I would be looking to celebrate that kind of attitude more than being worried about it being a hoax.”

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany defended the president’s remarks on Fox News Monday morning: “The president’s merely pointing out that we’ve got to let facts come out before we jump to judgment.""

It's a shame that Trump jumped to judgment about the coronavirus before letting facts come out.

Even when the facts did come out, he continued with his delusional state of denialism.

Trump official defends misleading claim 99% of coronavirus cases are 'harmless'
Mark Meadows, White House chief of staff, spoke out as US death toll topped 130,000 following surge of new Covid-19 cases

Trump official defends misleading claim 99% of coronavirus cases are 'harmless'

    excerpt:

"Steve Adler, the Democratic mayor of Austin, Texas, condemned Trump’s comments.

“It’s incredibly disruptive and the messaging coming from the president of the United States is dangerous,” he told CNN. “One of the biggest challenges we have is the messaging coming out of Washington that would suggest that masks don’t work or it’s not necessary, or that the virus is going away on its own.”

Trump himself has attempted to pivot away from the virus – seemingly in the hope Americans will become numb to the death toll – and focus on “culture war” issues, such as the toppling of statues of Confederate generals and other historical figures, as well as rebuilding the US economy."

A short-sighted move by Trump that will add confusion to the state of college students which is still very fluid due to the coronavirus.

US bars international college students if their school’s classes are all online
Colleges could be in a tough spot if they want to keep international students enrolled.

US bars international college students if their school’s classes are all online

    excerpt:

"Many colleges will be left in a tough spot by the policy: Reopen their schools to in-person learning despite rising numbers of coronavirus infections or face losing international students and their tuition. Some international students already had left the U.S. when the pandemic broke out and they and their colleges were hoping they could return in the fall, but most are thought to have remained here.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the changes to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program for non-immigrant students on F-1 and M-1 visas for academic and vocational coursework.

The State Department will not issue visas to students in online-only programs and Customs and Border Protection will not allow these students to enter the country, according to the press release.

If their school shifts online, international students currently in the United States will have to leave the country or transfer to a school with some in-person learning. Failure to comply with these regulations could result in removal proceedings, ICE said."

International students may need to leave US if their universities transition to online-only learning

International students may need to leave US if their universities transition to online-only learning - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"In the proclamation, the administration argued that the "extraordinary circumstances" posed by coronavirus called for the suspension of employment-based visas. But immigrant advocates, industries and experts say the administration is taking advantage of the pandemic to make sweeping immigration changes and advance its agenda to slash legal immigration.

Monday's announcement, like the changes that preceded it, could similarly result in many foreign students who often pay high tuition to have to return to their home country.

According to the Migration Policy Institute, a think tank based in Washington, DC, about 1.2 million students who fall under the affected visas were enrolled and registered at more than 8,700 schools nationwide as of March 2018."

My cousins are really into NASCAR and even before this they were posting all kinds of racist dog whistle stuff about this driver. I don't really speak to them even when they are out of prison I just hear things.

No one is going to stop watching though just like the NFL. The days of NASCAR being for rednecks is over. They have successfully marketed the sport to other motor sport fans. That's why they can afford to ban a flag. The people flying it are no longer a large enough percent of fans to worry about offending them. If it was still 1997 and you could get a free pack of cigarettes from a pretty girl in the parking lot since they also pay millions to sponsor a car maybe.

Noem should have taken precautions considering being on the plane and chatting with Trump.

South Dakota governor, exposed to virus, joined Trump on jet

    excerpt:

"Trump has been in a position all along to encounter a virus that spreads from people who don’t feel sick, such as Noem, who had interacted closely at a campaign fundraiser with Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, who turned out to be infected. Noem didn't wear a mask on the plane and chatted with the president as the flight returned to Washington, D.C., according to her spokesperson, Maggie Seidel.

Noem had tested negative for COVID-19 shortly before welcoming Trump to South Dakota on Friday, a day after she had interacted with Guilfoyle. One photo on social media showed Noem and Guilfoyle, who is also a Trump campaign staff member, hugging. The Trump campaign announced that Guilfoyle had tested positive on Friday."

Trump continues to try to gaslight the country and foster petty culture war distractions while the facts about the coronavirus say otherwise and damage his support.

Trump’s Support Is Withering in Areas Where Virus Cases Are Rising
Sunbelt and other Republican areas are now getting hit hard
Older voters most vulnerable are no longer supporting Trump

Trump’s Support Is Withering in Areas Where Virus Cases Are Rising

    excerpt:

"Coronavirus is skyrocketing in Republican-leaning Sunbelt and interior states, where shifting attitudes about the virus and President Donald Trump’s handling of it could spell more trouble for his re-election effort.

New cases have exploded in particular in Arizona and Florida, battlegrounds Trump must retain to win re-election. Jacksonville, Florida, where the president relocated the Republican National Convention, had the fastest-growing rate of coronavirus of any metropolitan area in the U.S. for the week ended July 4, according to Evercore ISI."

Truly tragic. But the CDC doesn't know anywhere near what Rump knows. All those experts can't hold a candle to "the all-knowing one."
36 states now experiencing spiking Covid-19 numbers, and hospitals are running out of ICU beds in most of those states. I wonder how "humble pie" tastes to those governors who refused to listen to the CDC, the FDA, and all the infectious disease experts. Having to reverse course and shut down again or hold off on "reopening everything", and having to issue "wear masks" orders to try to stem the tide of spiking new cases must really grate those idiots.

Just take a look at this picture ………… You have a major plumbing leak in your house - or sparks flying when you try to turn on the lights. Do you call a baby-sitter to fix them?? Do you call a school teacher, or an accountant?? Or do you call people that actually KNOW what they're doing concerning plumbing and electrical systems??

Now look at how many people followed the advice of the dyed-blond, sprayed orange doofus ………….. and rejected the advice of the infectious disease experts. Even many governors - who OUGHT to know better - followed and listened to that skid-mark. Over 132,000 people have died because of their political loyalty ...………. and still are dying today. When will the brown skid-mark on U.S. history be washed away?? Vote OUT the idiots who cost the lives of our family members, friends, co-workers.

See my post #25134. I made the same point ……………….. but apparently many of the "faithful flock" still trust Rump and his puppets over the REAL medical experts. So maybe they DO go to the barber to get their prostates checked??? !!!

And as usual, THE REPUBLICANS want to slash the budgets of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid to pay for the H-U-G-E tax breaks for the multi-millionaires and multi-billionaires, and the big increase in military spending.

What I'll never understand is why the everyday, avg. American Republicans still vote for the people who stab them in the eye when it comes to their old-age days. Is the avg. American Republican so rich that they don't need Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid??? And do they think it's fair that the super-rich get a bigger tax break than they do???
