I read it a few months ago. I thought it was okay, but it didn't blow my mind like I was hoping. The story had an interesting concept, and I really identified with it, but Kerouac's writing style just really annoys me. I hate how he writes run-on sentences that go on and on and on for like, a paragraph. And he has this weird ability to take a day and a half's worth of events, and smush it together into a sentence. I don't know...hard to describe, but I liked it okay. He didn't become one of my favourite writers, however, as I was hoping.

I just borrowed this from a friend earlier today. I was very impressed with On The Road, but I hated The Subterraneans because of its odd writing format. Any opinions of this one?

The dharma bums is a good book if you ask me, I would recommend it to anyone. It makes you want to live a simpler life and appreciate things more. Read it and you will not be disappointed. : )

The Dharma Bums was really good, I enjoyed it. I love Kerouac's writing. Although, Dharma Bums had an odd writing format, which made it a little hard to follow. At least for me, anyways. Great read, though.

Dharma Bums got me interested in buddhism. I love how the characters live their lives without being totally controlled by a religion. There's a sense of self discovery associated with their travels which reflects their innermost thoughts and feelings. More importantly, it made me re-evealuate what I value. Cool book which makes you want to hitch the country :)
