Lets see how many people can figure this one out =] It's all symbolic. The Death of Me I once met a girl Her name was Lady Savior. Her eyes shone with a hypnotic light of false hope as she spoke of a peace imaginable only in dreams. My heart was broken. I needed peace. I couldn’t help but listen. Like a Siren she sang to me And like a sailor I was deceived by the beauty of her song. Like the pied piper she led me And like a robber she blinded me. But my heart was broken. I needed peace. I couldn’t help but follow. In return for my soul she promised me the peace I so zealously sought. I didn’t fully believe her, so I graciously accepted her gift. She brought me peace, she brought me pain But I should’ve believed her It should’ve crossed my mind But it didn’t. She led me to the river and I drowned there while she took my soul Then everything was gone.
Uhm, does this have anything to do with those people who are always on shows like "Maury" because thier b/f beats them -and at the end of it all, they are all "but I still love him!" and the audience is like "oh lady, get a grip on reality already!" Is it anything like that ??
That part's a bit confusing. To speak of it in literal terms, the speaker didn't believe that she would take his/her soul, or that she would keep her promise of peace? I know it's poetry, and it doesn't have to reek of clarity, but I would try to clear that part up if I were you. Otherwise, it's a very good poem. I saw God or some form of religion.
That is what I meant. It's about drugs. The name Lady Savior was sort of an alias for the drug I chose to personify.
