The Crump of Artillery in the Morning

Soldiers at Ft Benning have been training hard lately. I'm about 10 miles from the closest firing range, as the crow flies, but it's still pretty loud. When it's real quiet, in the wee hours before dawn, I can hear the 20mm canons on the Bradley IFVs.

 

Wow... Do you get to see fireworks every night?

 

Just the dang noise...3rd bde/3rd I.D. is about to go back to Iraq, and I guess they want 'em used to loud noises.

In other War News, on this day in 1964, President Johnson declared "War on Poverty." While this war has caused fewer casualties than the War in Viet Nam, the War on Drugs, or the War on Terror, I cannot say that I have seen it to have been more successful in any other way than these other wars.
