They are one of my favorite bands of all-time, and definitely one of my top five bands from the early to mid 80s. These guys should be every bit as much remembered as other UK bands from the same era like The Cure, Joy Division and The Smiths, yet a lot of people have never even heard of them even though their material is on the same level if not higher. They were simply one of the best post-punk bands ever, and their sound is so incredibly cerebral yet dreamlike, with just incredible atmosphere, melody, and some really awesome, reverby guitar and ethereal keyboards. Really good lyricism, too. Their music evokes a very nostalgic feeling in me.
