It really is an amazing food, something so simple yet so versatile and cheap. You can wrap anything in the flour shell and it can cater to both people who eat meat and those who dont. You can sit down and cover it with salsa or leave it as a protable food, hold it in your hand and away you go.
Definitely some good eating! I always keep soft tortillas around, we use them like crazy, from burritos to Tex-Mex casseroles to quesadillas, to breakfast wraps. I tried making my own (tortilla shells) a couple of times but they kind of sucked.
1st year of college, i ate them about every other day for lunch. mmmmmm.. and not the fake kind. real burritos. no del taco type of crap.
Hey hey hey hey now dont you be slamming Del Taco based on them silly chain ones. If you have ever been to Bartow CA the original Del Taco you would not be slamming them. They have awesome tacos and they are 2x the size of the other chain Del Taco stops and they have truck parking. Del Taco rules but only the Barstow CA one, I have been to the others and it was so so sad. I have no idea why the original one is so much better but hell yeah. Now best burrito I ever had was in Laredo TX next to the hotel I had to stay at while the truck was being repaired. This little crap whole corner store had nothing but foods for the locals and they also made these things for quick eating. Found out cabbage goes in tacos and they hand made all thier shells and such. Was so so good but the meat the had in the display was very dark reddish color. I wonder what it was, but tasted good.
mmmm burritos....the spicier the better, and salsa and yum yum...so good. theres a place in downtown boston that makes excellent burritos now i want one
Maybe I should have explained I was raised 30 minutes away from Mexico.. I like my food to be as authentic like as possible. Though I do admit to eating Taco Bell nachos and double deckers in my lifetime... but those arent Mexican anyway.
So you did not know about the great Mexican test to prove American ignorance? The took meat, salad, cheese and tortila shells and mixed it 10 differents ways to make Americans buy it 10 different ways to prove we are stupid enough to buy it, lol
I don't ever eat Taco Bell, and I had never heard of Del Taco until now! Usually I just make my own stuffed burritos, in fact, we just had some here yesterday, but if I'm in the mood for some kick-butt real authentic Mexican cuisine, we go to a local little hole-in-the-wall restuarant that is just fantastic! I mean to look at the outside of the place, you'd never think...but you know what they say, you can't judge a book by it's cover! My little sister works at another authentic restuarant, she's a hostess and has worked there for 2 years. I feel guilty because I've never eaten there before. It's supposed to be really good from what I've heard. Eventually we'll have to go there and try it when she's working. I know she'll have them put the meals on the house too.
there used to be this place in albany called Bombers...every burrito was as big as my foot and i wear a size 13-14 depending... $3 for this massive burritto, it was like 2 meals in one
I'm once again addicted to the convenience store I help out at (probably will end up stuck working at)'s burritos. Just those cheapo frozen bean and beef burritos fried in grease that's already cooked a bajillion other things. Ooooh man. And with ranch, too! I'm also addicted to the town's other convenience store's fried sausage breakfast burritos. Yummy!
i keep tellin ya dilli has them waiting in line.. THE BEST!!! dont mind the date that was 2 weeks ago..
Well I may have to swing on over to them Georgian mountains on my next vacation and enjoy some kick ass buritos....

makes me get shivers over that kind of talk. Man I tend to wonder just how far some will go to put an end to what is good but not the norm for some. You all are doing a really great thing over there, giving people a chance to see a different way of life, a place to maybe get away, maybe a chance to make a different start, a chance to make new friends, have a good time, among great people. Love checking out your site for updatesand pictures of the projects you have going on.
