i cant stand their later stuff...but late 80's...very early 90's was good.

 

I can't stand their self-titled fifth full-length and St. Anger but the rest is quite good. I admit to like even Load and Reload. My favourite ever would be either Master or Ride. Can't really choose.

 

Call of Ktulu and Enter Sandman. The rest of it is crap, and anything after the black album UTTERLY sucks. I'd like Metallica to return, and get rid of the shorthaired money grubbing yuppies that replaced them.

 

I never cared much for Metallica, I like the heavy metal of the 70's.

Only pre-'Black Album' songs live would get my vote.

i like the metallica song where kirk hammett plays a really unmelodic rhythm part and a bunch of random bullshit that doesnt sound like anything in the solo... oh wait thats every song

 

Right now.. my main Metallica song is "Harvester of Sorrow".. it makes Re-load look like Bluegrass.

 

everything before black album was good metallica, but the 3 albums i consider to be by far the best of their work are kill 'em' all, ride the lighnting and master of puppets, the cliff burton days. If you listen to ''and justice you notice that there are not alot of bass riffs which pissed jason newsted off (replacing bassist for cliff) especially in the song to live is to die which was pretty much dedicated to cliff (absolutely no bass in that one)

 

The first three albums, with Clive, are the greatest. And justice for all, Black album and Load are ok and sometimes good, but not quite as brilliant as the first three. After load they lost it.

as a side note... anything post black album fuckin sucks... its when metallica sold out... and they just sucked after that anyways... you could see the suckiness slowly dripping from the black album... and then came load everything else and they all just reeked of shit

 

U can't tell that only the first albums are great only because they changed their style after Clive. Maybe they r not the same metallica as they startet but never mind the latest albums are great too exept st. anger.

You mean Cliff, and yes, after he died they were done, and we would all have been better off had they packed it in then. Cliff Burton did all the best writing and song work in the group, even after he died their best stuff was inspired by what they had done with him.
