I just finished reading this and loved it. Has anyone else read it? I'd love to hear what you think. Blessings Sebbi
Another book that has come highly recommended and that I've been meaning to read. Will let you know when I have read it!
Wonderful book, man!I read it a few years ago and have given away like 10 copies of it to people.I'd recommend it for everybody.
Just started reading it...my dad said it was good and i liked The Pilgrimage by the same author so i thought i give it a read
maktub! didge recommended this book to me and i loved it...it was very touching and such a beautiful story. i was totally enthralled when reading it, its one of my favs. its a simple story but a lot can be drawn from it
I liked it too, I gave my sister a copy for Christmas. Veronica Decides to Die by this author (Paulo Coelho) is also great.
Hehe, it's funny, I did a post on that book a few weeks ago, and everyone said it sucked, and in this one, everyone loves it!
Do a search before posting, Penny indeed posted a thread like this a couple of weeks ago. And i still think that this book is terrible...
its a beautiful book, this is my favourite outa all o paulos that ive read..ya should check out his others esp, veronika decides to die... althou he touches religion alot, he does it in a universal sense that everyone can relate ta, and he doesnt shove his opinions down peopls throats... after readin his books, i always have a warm feelin in my stomach...like anythins possible.
I don't like it... The message is kinda beautiful, but his literary quality is none and I think that it is a "Light book", best seller, writen to sell... I already gave my opinion in Penny's post...I think his best book is probably "Veronica decides to die"... At least it is more original...
well thats simply somethin i cant understand.... but each to their own.. just outa interest...whats yer favourite book to read?
Oh, I honestly cannot pick a favourite! They're way too different from each other. If we are speaking more or less about philosophical books (yet fiction), I would have to say almost anything by Hesse. I also enjoyed reading the Earthsea series by Ursula Le Guin (it's not entirely philosophical, but I really appreciate the philosophical ideas there). A book that seems a tad too sentimental to me (at times), but is still a great book and probably the one most similar to The Alchemist is The Little Prince. These would be my favourites when speaking about fiction based on philosophy. As literature is one of the most important things in my life, I enjoy works of many different genres, of course.
Ahhhhh... I PERSONALLY really love that book, but I wouldn't say it's that amazing. It's more personal than anything else... but like I said before as a reply to sky_pink, it's true that The Little Prince, in the same style, is much better.
I just read this book, everyone kept recommending it to me at uni so i thought i'd actually get round to reading it, was very different to what i had expected! Simple to read, but the ideas are more complex! I liked the novel, was inspiring and interesting and gave you some new ideas and views on things! Worth reading definatly! Hannah.
