Over the last week or so there has been a lot of arguing between natural v. backcombed locks. And it has become apparent that we now have 3 main dread groups.

    1. Natural- Have/are in the process of growing natural locks, and believe that "true" locks are natural.

    2. Backcombers- Backcombed their hair and are constantly arguing with other natural dreadies in order to make themselves feel better about their "dreadlocks".

    3. Quiet Backcombers- Backcombed their hair and regret it, but are unwilling to start over naturally and are gonna try to stick it out. Peacemakers.

This thread was not meant to start an argument. I'm sure I'm only stating the obvious here. Let's just all try to get along, and do our best to respect everyone's dreadlocks. If you can honestly say to yourself "I am happy with my locks" that's all that really matters.

I disagree. I backcombed I'm very happy with them except for the length. Nor do I argue with people to "make me feel better" about my dreads. I don't regret backcombing them either. I'd do it again.

maybe we should divide the dready forum into three dready forums....one for the naturals, one for the backcombers, and one for the closet backcombers. Actually thats a really lame idea...Im gonna pretend I didnt think of that or post this. derf. =]

oh and p.s....my head is a combo of the first two. Half is natural and half is backcombed. Ithink thats why my dreads are so crappy! lol

well first off, i would like to believe that not all the members who went natural are so elitist as to believe that their way is the only way to true locks.

second, i dont argue with natural users over how they did their hair.... no one here does as far as i can tell. but feel free to prove me wrong.

third, i have yet to hear from someone who regrets their chosen method. if youre not happy with your locks, you need to change something or start over.

fourth, you really sound like soaringeagles bitch. sorry if that sounded offensive, its not meant to be. you have your opinion (which we all are aware of btw) and thats cool.
but your judgements of other dreadheads are rather offensive.

Ummmm, I'm trying not to get too uppity about this comment, but I do not need to argue with anyone to make me feel better about my dreadlocks. I frakin' love my locks and I get compliments on them almost everytime I leave my house. If I had to do it again, I would make the same choice and backcomb. I have no regrets at all about backcombing my locks.

"dreadlocks"....are you insinuating that backcombed locks are not "real" dreads?

Well, if you didn't want to start an arguement, then maybe you should have read your post before hitting the submit button. Your comments on backcombed locks are pretty offensive.

I feel that almost everyone on this forum has been attacking natural dreadheads. Mainly because they are jealous and need to feel better about themselves. Which we all do at times, so it's not too bad.

I understand the problem with natural elitists, but the whole backcombing elitist thing that has been popping up is 3x as lame.

during that whole thread(the 20+ page one)all you could do was whine about how pat claimed he could spot backcombed locks, sounds like insecurity to me

Backcombers are not attacking natural dreadheads. We are just sick & tired of the natural elitists that are constantly dissing BC locks with comments like the ones you made in your first post. We are just defending ourselves against judgement and assumptions that are made about BC locks.

    i really disagree... :S

i love natural locks, the character, the patience it takes... i love the way they look too. i have absolutely no problem with them and from my point of view, for me, its the superior way to dread. that doesnt mean i dont love my locks. i think mine are perfect and i wouldnt change anything about them including the method i used to start them. i am completely happy with them and htey suit me perfectly.

and i have not noticed anyone attacking the natural method! im sure i would have noticed b/c i would have thought that was seriously uncool.

idk, you seem to think theres something wrong with people standing up for their chosen method on a board where natural has been the way to go for so long. i think its great. people have been made to feel bad about the choices they made with their hair and thats wrong.
im proud of my backcombed locks.... that doesnt make me an elitist.

So first someone accuses me of being malicious and now I'm just being a whiner....

No, I asked Pat how he could see the difference. I personally cannot see they difference and most people I talked to about this can't either. So I was trying to get Pat to answer the numerous questions that were being ignored.

Please try to refrain from making any further judgements on me.

I've never seen anyone here attack a natural dreadhead. Only arguments on wax. I can't even begin to say how offended I am by your back comb comments. Sure, I ADMIRE naturals. Doesn't mean to say I'm going to brush out 14 months of progress just to get "real dreads". I HAVE real dreads.
