Can we get a little discussion here? Political cartoons are great but we could use a little give and take. I was glad to see Joe Biden step down and let Kamala Harris become the 2024 Democratic candidate, I appreciate all he's accomplished in his term but it's time for him to retire. And of course I was concerned that Trump could beat him and we'd have to endure 4 more MAGA years. Kamala has been riding a wave of enthusiasm lately but it's starting to simmer down. We realize that while she's been gaining in the polls while Trump has been slipping, it's still a fairly close race and far from locked up. Seems we can't convince Trump's supporters that he's not the best thing to ever happen to this country. They believe him when he says Kamala is a communist, she's not very bright and she'll set off an economic depression followed by WWIII. She needs to hold press conferences to shut up her critics and kick Trump's ass in their debate in 2 weeks. Then there's his sentencing in 3 weeks, that could knock him out of it completely. Meanwhile she and the Dems need to keep up the attacks on Trump and the MAGA GOP. There's certainly enough material to attack them with. Complacency is the last thing we need.
Again the Dems lack the political "go for the throat" campaign. I'm hoping Harris puts on her "Wonderwoman" outfit and goes for the jugular.
In 2016 Hillary Clinton said, "When they go low we go high!" Sadly that didn't work and we got 4 years of Donald Trump. This time we need to fight fire with fire. Bring up January 6, his criminal record, the way he mishandled covid, his constant lies, etc. etc. etc. Take him down, then kick him while he's down!
Trying to keep the conversation going.... Trump is losing some support among Republicans, even MAGAs. It's just a trickle now but seems to be picking up speed. Many in the GOP are realizing that Trump is the ultimate RINO and he needs to go if their party is going to survive.
I think it was Michelle Obama who said that--at least first. But I agree with you. I think it's amazing that a world class grifter who mixes a steady stream of lies and insults with marketing of $199 golden tennis shoes, a $59.99 Bible, $99 NFT playing cards with pictures of him on them (newly re-released "by popular demand), while putting down the USA and praising every dictator on the planet, can be taken seriously as presidential candidate. As PT Barnum used to say: "one born every minute!"
I don't think it's a trickle. Seems to be the largest presidential election defection in political history to me. Some of those Republicans (or former Republicans) who support Harris over Trump: Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan Mesa, Arizona, Mayor John Giles Former Mike Pence adviser Olivia Troye Former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel Former Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood Former Treasurer Rosario Marin Former GOP state chairman and state Sen. Chris Vance of Washington Reed Howard of Young Republicans for Harris Former Republican National Committee delegate Rina Shah Former New Hampshire Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Horn Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman 238 people who worked for former President George H.W. Bush, former President George W. Bush, former Arizona Sen. John McCain and Utah Sen. Mitt Romney Former Trump "fixer" Micheal Cohen Former Republican House member Joe Scarborough Former Republican campaign strategist Steve Schmidt Republican strategist Ana Navarro Conservative commentator Rich Logis Republican congressional staffer Austin Weatherford Former Republican member of congress Tom Coleman Former Republican member of congress Dave emery Former Republican member of congress Wayne Gilchrest Former Republican member of congress Jim Greenwood Former Republican member of congress John LeBoutillier Former Republican member of congress Susan Molinari Former Republican member of congress Jack Quinn Former Republican member of congress Denver riggleman Former Republican member of congress Claudine Schneider Former Republican member of congress Christopher Shays Former Republican member of congress Peter smith Former Republican member of congress Alan Steelman Former Republican member of congress David Trott Former Republican member of congress Joe Walsh... and the list goes on......
I get the impression Trump is trying to set up a Plutocracy. Plutocracy is a government controlled exclusively by the wealthy, either directly or indirectly. A plutocracy effectively allows only the wealthy to rule. So, him, Elon Musk, and his other various rich cronies, running things. Would the MAGA voters who live paycheck to paycheck then realize they've been conned?
