Canadian officials say they are not sure it was a terrorist attack, even though he had an Isis flag in his truck

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/01/americas/edmonton-vehicle-attacks-investigation/index.html

This article is interesting. He was up for deportation in the USA but instead of deportation and Canada open door policy for people in the USA who are looking at deportation, we took him in.

The worst kind of terrorism is that which comes from an individual - For in its action of destruction there is no definitive targeted goal - but solely the action itself

I absolutely agree with you. The whole situation really bothers me, I feel anxiety every time I decide to go to a public event.

If this happened in the USA, England or some other country this thread would have blown up and had pages of responses and been all over the place on the net. . I wonder why Canadians as a whole are outraged when it happens elsewhere but in Canada this is not news or important to us and to the world.

Was important when A mosque was attacked in Canada but not when the person who takes such actions is a so called minority and not a citizen.

I don't think many Canadians would even have heard of this if it happened elsewhere.

It is one guy, injuring 5 people. The guy seemed pretty stupid (he gave his real driver's license to a police officer at a roadblock), and not a serious threat to public safety. He was detained without a massive military-style police operation, and is in custody. It will lead to a review of the immigration/refugee process to see if something was missed that could have predicted his behaviour, and there might be an increase in funding/focus on de-radicalization efforts in major cities in Canada.

It will not change anything in canadas immigration laws. Nothing. A known terrorist who blew up an Israeli embassy came to Canada as a landed immigrant, he was turned away. Returned three months later as a refugee who was seeking assylum in Canada from the death penalty and was accepted in.

We have so many somolians crossing the border from the USA that we have tent cities set up and no where to house them. Nothing has changed except for our wishy washy government saying that he wants people to go through proper channels.

When something happens elsewhere we are well informed about it. This is done to create the facade of how great and safe Canada is from such actions that happen. It is downplayed in Canada. Which is evident in the government refusing to call this man a terrorist but denounced the mosque killer as a terrorist and lack of media coverage! Trudeau virtue signalling for the minorities and non citizens while he completely ignores actions taken by people who are not Canadians.

Trudeau doesn't give a shit about Canada, just like his father, just like the rest of the world. He just cares about the world stage and being supportive to the majority in the world who are not Canadian!

Don't you have to inspire terror in the population for it to be considered an act of terrorism? It seems to me that most people just consider this to be a criminal act by a disturbed and misguided person. The police responded in a way that didn't cause panic in the people of edmonton, and caught him quickly. Nobody died, and life in the city has gone on basically as it normally does.

Also, what does 'dishy washy government' mean?

It was a typo, wishy washy, which I corrected in the edit. Do you know what that means or do you need me to explain it to you?

The mosque shooter did not inspire terror in me nor many canadians, but it was called a terrorist attack by our prime minister.

A terrorist attack is, the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against citizens, in the pursuit of political aims. This man has political aims

The mosque shooter did not have political aims, yet he is called one. And We sit back and watch our government give 12 million to a known terrorist and paint him as a victim.

No, not as far as I'm concerned. If you took any act that would be clearly terrorism, and removed any media coverage, or word-of-mouth news, then people would not be terrified. If everyone was sedated at the time a terror attack was announced, then no one would be terrorized either.

Imho, the intentions of the act, and its severity define terrorism

Would you say the same thing about the mosque shooter if his gun had jammed, or if he had been caught before carrying out the shooting? Would the fact that nobody died make it not terrorism? What if he had just injured 5 people in the shooting?

The intention of taking peoples lives is equal to actually taking them. If the government prevents an attack once, it will make them malicious and they will try and do it again. At least, that's the way I see it. There is a big problem with the integration of the refugees because the terrorists use it as an opportunity to cross borders easily. They are living among us, which is the scary part of the whole situation. I am not saying that the refugees shouldn't be allowed in our country, but that the government should do something to prevent the people from taking the acceptance as an advantage. I feel like there is no such thing as "the right thing" to do right now.

I voted for Justin to get rid of Harper and legalize weed. I sure as hell didn't want him to open our boarders and let these uncivilized shits flood in.

I did not vote for Trudeau. Glad I did not. He is an embarrassment to our country as was his father. He was the most destructive government we had but has had people who worked their and his entire life to attribute things to him that he actually never did. Weed! Not the best reason to vote for a government. Let's keep them smoking weed and sleeping. The liberal government in this country is actually the one who sold it to foreign governments, not the conservatives! The excessive spending by liberals has put us so far in debt that we are lost. Before Trudeau senior we had money in the bank. Our dollar was worth more than the US dollar. He completely crippled us and his son continues to do it. Sr. was more concerned with foreign fascist, communist dictatorship governments as is his son.

Justin Trudeaus platform was change. Appealed to immigrants with no loyalty to the Canadian people, or the western world.. This is why he is accepting anyone in. For votes. Diversity is his friend! His comments regarding this event in Canada was he was a lone wolf. Diversity is our strength he says. Diversity is his votes, from people who have no love for the Canadian way of life. Yes there is a majority Canadian culture which Trudeau looks to squash and disregard which is evident with bill M103. Notice that no one is saying that the man was or is an Islamic extremist or mentioning he is Muslim? Trudeau certainly mentioned the religion of the one who shot the mosque in Quebec City. A religion that he may not be a part of. There is a double standard which favours anyone in Canada, citizen or not who is not English speaking. Bil m103 specifically prevent people mention Islamic or muslin in a negative way. So don't mention this persons religion because that is illegal , while it is ok to say negative things about Christians and Jewish people. If you say something negative about Islam or Muslim you are an islamaphobe. You are racist!

So Trudeau, the liberal government are down playg this because it meets their need to promote this open border policy as a success. Puts laws in place to protect non citizens while not giving a shit about the citizens.
As Trudeau said in a mosque not long ago. Allahu akbar!

I have bad chronic pains, so legal weed would mean I could cook my own healthy edible pain meds instead of these expensive toxic pills. Also, at the time of the election, the liberal party in my province was holding firm against a union strike. Damn overpaid government service union executive bureaucrats.

Anyway, yeah, Islamophobia is Bullshit. Delusional PC Liberals blindly tolerating an oppressive INTOLERANT group! That's just crazy and dangerous thinking, in fact it's not thinking at all. It's an automatic knee-jerk response because of PC liberal media brainwashing. Political correctness has gotten completely out of touch with reality.

i also have pain in my back. Nerve pain which opiats don't work on, it comes and goes, my pain but the pain I understand. I crushed a few discs in my lower spine. Getting medical weed I can get but I have to jump through hoops to get it. You can get it covered as well if you get certain forms filled out as it being necessary. Or you can get it at a good price from my neighbours son. The mom is completely oblivious as to what her son is doing, Trudeau Wont legalize it. He got what he wanted. Votes from young people.

As for islamophobia, I agree it is bullshit, you know another thing I have heard, which Trudeau sr. brought about from people, you are acting like an American, as if this is equivelant to being racist and a bad person and/or being un Canadian. While at the same time the government says there is no such thing as a Canadian.

I don't like words ending in phobia.

When I was young a claustrophobic and arachnophobia were two common words. One was scared of small spaces one was scared of spiders and it made sense.

Now youre an homophobe or islamophobe just because you don't like them. Somewhere along the line things changed, and now we have a phobia because we don't like certain things.
Ike newsflash, most no one cares or likes Islam in the western world, we ain't afraid we just don't like that shit. No phobia there, we just don't like cunts dressing up as Muslim women and killing people. We don't like those cunts for that cuntish behaviour but why is that a phobia? Why do we get catagorised with that word and then made out to feel ashamed or racist because we don't like nor tolerate that behaviour?

I might be a phobiaphobe, because fuck I hate that word and anyone that tries to use it to put me down. ;)

People just gotta calm down and approach this with reason. Being pro-Islam or anti-Islam shouldn't be a factor in the security of Canada. This country should be open to all faiths, but precautions are necessary and shouldn't be decried as Islamophobia.

I agree but it is really hard. The media talks so much about the topic that you don't get the opportunity to be calm and fight with the fear that stops you from having fun and enjoy your life. I guess I should stop being so involved in the mainstream media and stop thinking the worst.
