How big is it? How's the weather in winter? Is it crowded? Are there lots of suburbs? What do you like to do there? etc. I'm probably moving there asap and don't have enough time to find out all I can before I get there.
I have lived here for 5 years moved from chicago, I love it it is a pretty big city though it is not tall like chi. The weather in the winter is awesome you only need a sweatshirt or a light jacket. There are a fair amount of large subburbs. the east valley is the best place to live. IMO I would aviod mesa it is older than the rest and not as nice. There is tons of stuff to do especially outdoors. hiking boating anything really. skiing in the winter is 2 hours away. let me know if you have any other questions.
I moved to Phoenix last February to go to flight school so I have now survived a full summer. It definitely does get hot here, but I found the summer heat easier to deal with then the winters some of the places I have lived. I do have to say that the day it hit 118º was a little much. The rest of the year is wonderfull weather wise. I live in the east valley and don’t really like the suburban sprawl that much, subdivisions all start to look the same, but the traffic is not to bad, and if you live in Phoenix, Tempe or Scottsdale the sprawl isn’t as bad. It is a fairly conservative area although there are some freethinking pockets. There is quite a bit to do here. If you can afford it I highly recommend Tempe, it is a fairly attractive city. All in all, I like the Phoenix metro area ok, I have lived worse places.
I spent the worst 7 months of my life in Phoenix.....if you like water, or rain....dont go. I was in Scottsdale, and I think this is the worst part of town....people wise. Not friendly, concieted...just not cool at all. But on the other hand, I really dig Flagstaff....that's a great town
Well I'm not buying or renting anytime soon. I'm doing a work exchange program out here. But I think we'll be fine weather wise for the next few months at least. I'm really close to Squaw Peak(?) I can see it easily outside my bedroom window, so I'm looking forward to checking that out. The part of town we live in seems really artsy, and I just arrived today and met a few cool people already... I just need to get a part time job, and wander around town a bit, see what's around. But I like it a lot, so far.
tell me whats your deal what do you like to do in your free time I work a hell of a lot but if we have simular intrests i may be able to help you out with stuff to do etc.
Well I'm working on a farm situation and I'm vegetarian. I like food, anything artsy, at all. I love the outdoors, I like hiking, but I don't have a ton of endurance... I need to build up some strength. I like music. I like just about anything that's exciting, but low-key/not too flashy. Where do you go boating out here? I know there are dry rivers and I've heard there's a lake, but I can't figure out where. I'm in central Phoenix btw.
lake pleasant, suarro, bartlet. the last is the closest. there are hiking trails on mountains everywhere. Camelback is tough if you are out of shape. some of the others are easier. Check out tempe downtown. mill and university lots of shops etc. they have art fairs there. also in downtown phoenix there are art fairs on sundays. I am not sure if they are going on right now though. Check ask.com and city websites like that to figure out more. Phoenix is the kind of place that you either love or hate. Like NY city. I love it. there is tons to do but you need to look around alittle. This is the best time of year as well, as it is not too hot. What farm are you working on?
phoenix is okay. it has its perks, like eighty-degree weather in february. but i am a lover of trees and grass, and am suffering here in the desert. the desert itself is very beautiful, i love to go hiking around here; it's sad to see all the development that is happening to destroy the natural landscape. all in all i'd say it's a nice place to visit, but after four years here i am itching to escape. i miss my rain, trees, grass, snow! living in the city has its perks (easy availability of a lot of things) but i'm tired of all the hullabaloo. flagstaff and tucson are nice places to go. i lived in tucson for a while and really enjoyed it. if you are a person who is not a fan of those things, you'll love it here. i know many people that think moving here is the best decision they've made.
