Tears From The Rain Young Maya was barely five years old, Being raised by her grandmother in a broken home. Her mother, an addict, up and left her cold, Her father passed away, leaving her all alone. One very early, rainy Spring morning, Maya's grandmother sat, staring out the window. Tears streaming, she appeared to be mourning, Maya, worried, asked, "Grandma what's wrongwo?" Her grandmother chuckled and said: "My-My, these are tears of joy, not pain. For memories of past, are brought on by the rain. My grandma told me, in her final words of life 'When it rains, I'm watching, eyes filled with tears of pride'" Thirteen years later, Maya was eighteen. A senior in high school, about to graduate. She was popular, even voted prom queen, Against all odds, she flourished in every way. However, once again life dealt a blow, A week before graduation, her grandma passed. As she faded, to Maya, Grandma spoke, The following words of encouragement, her last: "My-My, baby don't cry, I feel no pain, Look outside, Remember what I told you about the rain. Remember these words, in my final seconds of life, When it rains, I'll be watching with pride filled, teary eyes." A week later, on the day of graduation, Maya stood alone, among a crowd of her peers. Outside, she walked across stage, in deep concentration, She returned to her position, the end slowly neared. The pitter patter of water became slightly apparent, Maya began to smile, for it was music to her ears. She looked up at the angel, who lived as her parent, As Maya's spirit was lifted, her eyes filled with tears. Then Maya whispered to herself: "Grandma, It's My-My, and these tears are not of pain, thank you for reminding me, thank you for the rain. Please remember these words, I say them with pride, When it rains, I know It's you watching over my life."
