Be careful of tattoos on your feet, easy to get infected & if in an area of the foot that receives a lot of friction when wearing shoes, the tat will fade out rapidly, sometimes almost disappearing as if it was hit by a big eraser. I used to do tats for a living and know what I'm talking about, believe me.

Most of the damage will come in the healing process. basically, you need to find a period of time when you can go barefoot and stay out of sun and water for 10-14 days until the scabbing has gone. Most of the ink fallout comes in the healing period, just like any other tattoo except feet are subjected to more abuse than most areas.

Yes, over time, the tattoo will also fade like other tattoos, but it is a little more prone to it. However, it is totally possible to get a rad tattoo on your foot that will look good for a long time as long as you baby it while healing and take good care of it.

As far as design, you should go have something custom drawn. Most tattooist are excited about doing something new, and you won't ever see it on another person.

    Cheers

You should pick something YOU think of... it is a personal experience and it's for YOUR body. If it is your first one I suggest thinking of what you want, drawing up/printing out a picture of it and then staring at that picture a lot, everyday, for at least a few months, so you can be sure. When it's something that means a lot to you, and you are sure, it will be all the more beautiful. Good luck!!!

i agree with everyone who said that you should pick out you own tat. what are you going to say when your older and when your children ask you why you have a (oh let's say) frog on your foot.

'oh that thing, people that i don't really know on a forum told me i should get it.'

find something that is meaningful to you. but if you insist on some ideas here are few....

    - your zodiac sign

    - a rose (or flower)

    - a lizard of some sort

    - anything tribal

i still say pick you own.

i have john lennon on my foot. i was so overly careful with it during healing it still looks awesome. i love it . it still looks good no fading. if it does ill just get it touched up anyway.

I agree with that. It has to be meaningful to you not EVERYONE else. Tattoos are permanent and should be thought out thoroughly. You don't want to regret it when you're older. As for having it on the foot, if not taken care of, it can definitely fade fast and infected. A lot of tattoo parlors won't do free touch ups for tattoos on the feet and hands because they are areas with the most friction.
