ok youve got 6 lines, kinda like 6 strings on your guitar, then you got the numbers on each line, those numbers would be fret numbers. yea. highway to the dangerzone badaa baaa.

Since no one has really answered you in a way that will help you actually figure it out you have 6 lines, each represent a string on yer guitar only the TOP line of the tab represents the BOTTOM string and the BOTTOM line represents the TOP string and so forth, it is simply inversed... This will take getting used to but in time it becomes just as natural as.. well something really natural. The numbers represent the fret that is played on that string so in tabs you would read a C Chord like this:
    |---0--
    |---1--
    |---0--
    |---2--
    |---3--
    |---0--

There are symbols such as H and P and they mean hammeron and pulloff a / or \ between numbers means to slide from the first number to the second number
    |--------------0-- |----
    |--0h2---------2-- |----
    |-------0p2----2- |----
    |--------------0-- |-2/5---
    |--------------0-- |----
    |--------------0-- |----

    Any other questions just ask!
