How do you make a tablet or a pill? I have been having a hard time finding information on google about this. (probably because pages with the words "make" and "pill" or "create" and "tablet" etc. can be about pills that make people sick etc.) So far I've found that you can press a tablet or mold a tablet. Most presses are extremely expensive, but there are a few are very cheap hand presses, are these reliable? Molding tablets has been even harder to find information about. Apparently sugar, and corn starch are very good binders for tablets (although most pills in stores are binded with polymers). Do you just mix water, sugar, corn starch, and "vitamins" and then let them dry in a mold? What would work well for a mold? Plaster? Clay (probably not)? I have a this high temperature silicon selant (makes nice molds, peels off of tablets easily), are there other glues etc. that harden and make nice molds (instant dry crazy glue, super glue, [water based glues break down and disolve the tablets i'm trying to set the mold around])? Couldn't a sugar tablet melt fairly easily? I suppose I'll have to answer alot of my own question by trying stuff out... There has to be a fairly easy way to do this. I found these directions online: Sounds like crap. How do people usually make tablets? One last question: If I were to disolve a tablet in water (excedrin or something), filter it, and be left with polymer binder powder, could I some how use this to create other tablets? The polymer in excedrin seems to be laid down very uniformly in layers that would be hard to replicate. Note: I'm NOT interested in capsules. I have information about them already.
Tablets are made with a press. They are expensive and in the USA I think it is illegal to own one capable of making mass tablets with out a licence. Handheld presses on E-bay are still sold however, often called something else though, and I think they are legal because they don't make em in mass.
Yeah as far as I knew they were really difficult to come by. I know they work under extraordinary pressure, and the mechanics are rather complex. Single hand press is probably your best bet, but I would still be careful buying one.
Uplink, I feel ya on this one. Pressed tablets are a thousdands times classier than a fucking gel-cap. I looked into getting a hand press, but I didn't get as far as you have. I just use smaller gel-caps. If you come up with something can you post back, I'd be interested to hear about it.
Gel caps do seem easy and conveniant, but I already understand that option... pill making, not so much. It sounds like just molding pills is a better option than pressing them.
yes and making pills would be alot me "sleuth" han gel capsuls. I have wondered about this as well. The cheapest tablet press i found online was from asia and was around a grand. It is worth the investment but would you want a pill press sent from asia to your house? i wouldnt. If anyone can figure more info on this i will be happy to listen. for now i will keep researching different ideas.
hmm i wonder how the pressed pill turn out? it would be nice if they wouoold show pics of the finished pills. If they turn out like normal looking pills it would be worth the investment. If the pressed pills crumblededand looked like shit then is would be a waste. thanks for the link tho. ill see what i can come up with
