now lets get this out in the open, I love this band. but that being said, I have other observations. I was on yahoo music and I chose to listen toi Korn : another brick in the wall. the next song that kame up was S.o.a.d.'s new one BYOB. AWESOME SONG!!!!! but it reminded me so much of late 80's speedmetal. BUT in the late 80's there was no way slayer could ever enjoy the comercial acceptability that system now enjoys. what changed?
What changed? Marketability. I agree that system and slayer have a lot in common, but you cant say Slayer didnt enjoy commercial success. Maybe not as much as Tina Turner or some other tool, but They held their own even better than Iron Maiden, IMO. And system is definately alot more poppy than slayer.
I think SOAD is just trying to get their message across. SOAD is a LOT more poppy than Slayer, but I think we can ALL agree, Slayer is fucking awesome.
SOAD is definatly one of the best new bands, not only are they protesting, but I can't get enough of there music. Mezmerize is comin out on May 17, hopefully it can meet the political veiws of Steal this album and the musical talent of Toxicity.
SOAD rocks.... glad they're new album is finally coming out on the 17th.... BYOB is a badass song.... i dont really think of them creating a "marketable" style... their style of metal/rock spans all ganres within the rock scene... thats what i love about them... not one song sounds like the next
ohh yeah i love all their styles but no matter what phase they go through, you can still tell its them. and its nice to be back on here too
