I'd like to talk to some people who believe in and have experienced forms of synchronicity in their lives. I do all of the time and recently it has been driving me crazy to figure things out. I don't really understand a lot of what Jung has written on the topic because I don't fully grasp statistics and chemistry and all of the scientific correlations he places on things, seemingly to prove its existence. I don't need proof. My life is proof. What I am searching for is a better understanding of my experiences and what they could potentially mean.

Mostly I'm trying to figure out my connection to someone who keeps appearing in my life out of the blue. I have known since the day I met this person that we have some sort of connection. This feeling is strong. We are not even friends and have barely spoken to one another, haven't been anywhere near each other in almost 10 years, but there is a connection. I dream of this person sometimes and I know that they have thought of me or tried to contact me. It is just weird. I want to know what they are trying to tell me. What their significance is in my life, if any.

I have read some books and articles but I'm still a little confused on basic ideas of synchronicity and I was hoping that perhaps talking to others who have experienced it could help me to better understand it. I basically need info in layman's terms. And I'd rather have a discussion than just read about someone else's ideas.

If anyone can help me I'd greatly appreicate it.

I know what you mean by the synchronicity/appearing/disappearing thing, its something that kinda plagues my life both awake and asleep, I've always tried to find ways to express my anger/annoyance/happiness/ecstacy over things like that, but words kinda escape me whenever I try to talk to peops about it and it just comes out as "blurgggg". So I gave up talking about it and decided to just draw pictures and hope someone else notices the synchronicity and correlation between everything and can find a way to talk about it.

I am sad that no one else believes in this concept. Or knows what it is. I know it happens all of the time.

Synchronicity is a wonderful way to define Holism. Everything is connected so everything is synchronicity. We put out energy flows and we receive back mirrors of those flows. All is an amazing endless tapestry woven of light lines.

Synchronicity is always happening but for us, individually, once we put our attention on something then it becomes real for us and then we really notice it happening in our lives.

I am interested in synchronicity. As someone who has spent some years looking into things like the I Ching and the Tarot, it seems to me that there are many connections between things which are quite mysterious
And also, I have had many experiences where co-incidences line up in a very noticable and often meaningful way.

IMO there is some deep lesson or lessons to be learned form such experiences, although sometimes it can be hard to see what co-incidence is saying to us.

Usually, if you feel some kind of connection to someone, there is some significance.

I think that similar states of being attract each other, and that different people are more susceptible to certain states-- sort of like some people have blue eyes and some people have brown eyes... it's in the DNA, perhaps. If you have a state which, through the chance encounter of two of its vessels, increases to a certain 'mass', then you have a distortion of space and time.

So I guess I'm saying that maybe we are all vessels for energies which can, under certain circumstances, distort the properties of our immediate physical universe.

But I don't believe this has any real significance in human terms-- if only because those terms are actually desiged to remain incapable of actually realizing significance-- and resist the notion necessarily in order to 'progress'.

You may already know this, Jung was Taoist. His later work, after the split with Freud, indicates parallels with Taoist principles. So maybe it would be helpful to read, Lao Tzu's "Tao te Ching". I just got it myself and am looking forward to studying it.

Jung also wrote a very interesting intro for Richard Wilhelm's translation of the I Ching, in which he explains how he actually used the Ching in writing the intro - lots there on synchronicity.

Also, the work of Doc.John C.Lilly might be of interest, esp 'the centre of the cyclone' and 'the dyadic cyclone' as he was very much into the whole thing of meaningful co-incidence and had definite theories about it based on his experiences and experiments.

synchronicity happens. nothing has to be or not be for it to do so.

synchronicity: non-sequential connectiedness. consistent same time happening, unexplained by observable connection or lack there of.

so; it's a big universe out there and we couldn't know everything if we wanted to.

Absolutely. But perhaps we can learn how to use it? How to see what it is telling us. Even how to generate useful co-incidence for ourselves.

The I Ching you mean? The Wilhelm translation was published by Routledge and Keegan Paul here in the UK - You'd probably find it on amazon, abebooks or even ebay.

the externality of relations is an illusion, everything is connected to everything else. You might also be interested in Jungs work on archetypes.

Everything is synchronicity - when you start to look for it you will see how it is all connected, Holism.

perhaps our focus and intent are intertwined with this synchronistic process that surrounds us.

my understanding is that it represents life events following a meaningful pattern, or that all events fit perfectly together, in a synchronized fashion. a simple answer would be meaningful coincidences-or lack of any coincidence at all.

I think that is just a qualifying point of view of what IS.
