Does anyone remember back in the 70's when people made skirts out of neckties?I think they were called "swirl kirts"....I have a bunch of silk sari's and I thought they would be perfect for skirts like that.I used to have a bunch of patterns that have gotten lost along the way.I certainly do not see myself as a seamstress by any stretch, and I was wondering has anyone ever made these, and have any tips,or a pattern per chance?I figured surely someone at hip forums would know if anyone does.If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.Thanks you guys! audreyanne
Yeah, I saw some of those at the Folklife festival. I know NOTHING about sewing, but it looked like they opened up the tie seams and just sewed them together. The skirts I saw had jagged (like pinking shears) hems from the point of the ties. They looked cool.
I remember Blossom wearing a skirt like that....Blossom,from the 80's TV show lol. I think they look nifty...but I have no ties.

I have wanted to make one of those for a long time. I remember it from Blossom, too. One of these days, I'm going to buy a bunch of ties from a thrift shop and make one.
I made one long ago in highschool, regretfully I don't have the pattern, or the skirt any more... but it did look pretty cool..
