i think it's in north dakota. that one show where they killed the gator in florida, they had the map of states that they were banned from. it was either north dakota or arizona that they could go on vacation to. they were going to delaware for vacation in one episode, and they were banned from south dakota. they crossed arizona out because bart said it smelled funny there, not here.
yes, but it is north dakota, plain and simple...they inadvertently gave away the secret in the way tax refund described
none of those states. It was revealed in the "Behind the Laughter" episode that they were from Northern Kentucky.
I will say Oregon or Washington. Here are a couple of reasons I think that: 1. In one episode Homer climbed a mountain in Springfield that was 13,000 feet high. That would mean the state would have to be out west. 2. They live near an Ocean which would narrow it down to a state on the pacific coast. 3. They can get the ocassional snow storm which sounds about right for Washington or Oregon. I believe they said it was were the Simpsons were originally from but had moved to Springfield.
Okay we can debate this til the cows come home, that is exactly what Matt Groening wants us to do, but I don't know if we will all be able to settle on an answer together. I think it was the intention of the creator, a running gag if you will, to never fully answer the question. Why else could he have chosen Springfield? A city that is in many states.
1. the most evidence points to oregon 2. the evidence is intentionally diffuse 3. there is no answer 4. there just isn't
I'm pretty sure the characters are based on people from New Orleans, LA, dont know about the actual city though.
yeah, they're not from a state. just "springfield, usa" BUT if i had to pick, i'd say washington. what soccergirl said is true, and matt groening is from seattle, ] and the simpsons are based not-so-loosely on his family. peace. LP
hehe i think you guys are right about matt groening not wanting us to know, they're just from somewhere in middle america... but there is a shelbyville right next to springfield, Illinois.
