I am broke, but I want to maybe grow indoors, what would be the cheapest set up I could use?

I found "Grow Lights" by GE at Home Depot, would these work for growing? I was thinking of just setting up a light, putting a seed in my soil, and trying to grow, or would I need a better setup? I know what I am doing, I just wanted to be quick about my question, I know how to move the lights and everything, I am just wondering about being cheap.

"Cheep" is what birds say.. they dont have pockets to carry money. Pelicans cheep when they are babies, till they get that big ass beak.

Get a couple CFL's and youll grow some weed. It will not be all that. But its a start in the right direction..
100watts per 4sqft is as cheap as Id recommend.. Anything lower youll be wasting time, energy, and produce nothing but a novelty bud that will be gone in 5 minutes.

The cheepest hydro system you can get that will still grow you some decent buds would be a diy recirculating dwc set. Its really easy to make and you can get everything you need at Home Depo except your lights. For lighting, the cheepest fixture you could effectivly use would be a 400 watt hps. The cheepest 400 watt hps units I know of are available at insidesun.com. Just somthing to think about- Soil growing is not as easy as most folks believe, for the most part nowadays growing hydro with a high quality nutrient is much easier. If you do decide to build and run a dwc system, I would sugest you use Fox Farm nutes. I sugest theyr Grow Big 3-2-6 for veg and theyr Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom for flower along with theyr ChaChing or whatever theyr late flower booster is.
