Anyone going to Castlerigg stone circle nr Keswick for the summer solstice. I couldnt get anyone to go to stonehenge so am heading up to castlerigg. Its probily one of the best stone circles in the country IMHO, in a great setting framed by the moutains and hills. I went up there for the winter solstice a few years ago and despite the clould it was special.

Hi ClaireIts in the lake districk about a mile from keswick. If you go on the modern antiquarian website there are loads of pictures there. It really is a cool place. Dont know how many will be there though. When I went to the winter solstice a few years back there was a portly druid arms aloft greeting the sun in the circle and a couple of people blessing children etc.

Grrr I have to set off early a.m. on the 22nd from Yorkshire to take a load of people (and myself) down to Glasto or else I would def come to this as it's nearer than the stuff that goes off down South each year.

    What a shame :(

Had a great time at castlerigg for the solstice. There was about 120 people there. A relly good mellow vibe people playing their drums and guitars, a few people juggling, a couple of druids, plenty of smoke going round and no police at all. The authual sunrise was unfortunatly obscured by clouds but hey this is northern england so no surprise there.
    Did anybody else go?
