I feel like listening to some depressing angry music right now (no metal, shredding, or emo screamo crap though), also if its a little trippy that would be even better. Something like the band Mogwai, which is a really good band with some depressing stuff..so yea something like that..would appreciate any replies, thanks.

Kind of harsh ambient, so to speak. The earliest darkwave bands, as far as I know, are in fact early industrial bands – Nurse With Wound, Coil, Zoviet France, The Hafler Trio, Nocturnal Emissions, etc.

Check out some Cold, might be what you're looking for.

Seether - Tied My Hands (acoustic) in perticular
    Tool, A Perfect Cirlce
Stone Sour - ZZzzz Rd, Silly World, Bother, Cardiff, and Through the glass are some good tunes, the rest of their stuff is a little on the metal side.
    Staind
Tantric? Theory of a Deadman? All these bands are good, and might be what your looking for.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned The Cure yet. They are by far the most depressing band I know of that can still jam. I would suggest the albums Pornography, Disentigration, Wish, and Bloodflowers. They will depress the hell out of you.

The music by Spokane is probably the most depressing I've ever heard, and I love it!! Also check out The Blackheart Procession.

Most contemporary bands are pretty depressing as it's all been done as regards rock music - the well has been drained. All they're doing now is boringly repetitive of what peaked about 30 years ago and has steadily declined since.
Only electronic music represents the future and is the only kind of music where you'll hear anything new.
